Why is it important for ligaments to be stretchy?

Ligaments need to be somewhat stretchy to allow for normal joint movement and flexibility. Being stretchy helps prevent injury by absorbing and distributing forces during physical activities. However, if ligaments are too stretchy, it can lead to joint instability and an increased risk of injury.

Do your testicles get saggier when you get old?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am an older man and have definitely noticed that my balls are larger than they were when I was 20 and my scrotum (nut sack) is longer and larger than it used to be.

When I was 20 my balls were egg shaped but smaller (maybe 2 inches from tip to tip) and my scrotum did not hang down nearly so far. Back then I would guess that my scrotum hung down about 3 inches from my penis. My balls are now the size of very large eggs at least 3 inches long from tip to tip. If it is warm my scrotum and balls may hang 4 to 5 inches or more from my the bottom of my penis. They still pull up very close to my penis just before orgasm but then they relax.

I am not a medical expert but things I have read suggest that many parts of the body (nose, ears, possibly the sex organs, certainly the prostate) continue to grow very slowly and expand with age. This is why you see larger noses and ears on very old men. The same goes for their balls and their scrotum and penis, too. Its not rapid growth but things definitely get bigger the older you get.

How should one warm up before push-ups?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

One way to warm up before doing push-ups is to start with some light cardio exercises like jumping jacks or jogging in place to get your blood flowing. Then, do some dynamic stretches for your shoulders, arms, and chest to loosen up the muscles. Finally, perform a few sets of push-ups with gradually increasing intensity to prepare your body for the workout.

Is 110 over 70 blood pressure good for a 75 year old man?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The previous answer was factually incorrect.

I've summarized the JNC 7 (The Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure) guidelines as follows :

1. Normal: <120/<80 (systolic/diastolic)

2. Prehypertension: 120-139/or 80-89

→ lifestyle modifications recommended:

a. decrease salt intake

b. exercise

c. diet: high fiber; fruits and veggies. Reduce saturated and total fat consumption

d. moderate alcohol consumption

3. Stage-1 Hypertension: 140-159/or 90-99

→ lifestyle modification (stated above)

→ Single blood pressure lowering medication

4. Stage-2 Hypertension: >160/ or >100

→ lifestyle modification (stated above)

→ Combination drug therapy (2 different types of blood pressure lowering medication)

In adults, diastolic BP tends to stabilize, while systolic generally increases with age, and is a better indicator of cardiovascular health. People who don't have hypertension by age 55, still have a 90% risk of developing it in their lifetime.

On first blush, your blood pressure seems to fall within the "normal range." However, what you'd need to know is what your baseline BP was before these latest readings. Low blood pressure (hypotension) is a BP <90/<60, so you don't really have hypotension, per se. But again, while your blood pressure is within a "normal" range, you'd need to know your baseline BP to have a better understanding of any clinically significant changes; so while your BP may fall with a normal range, it may not be normal for you (especially if you haven't made any lifestyle changes that would account for a drop in your blood pressure).

Has your systolic pressure always been on the low side (~102)? (This could be normal for your physiology.) Do you feel light headed when you stand up? (Orthostatic hypotension) Do you ever experience shortness of breath or chest pain? Do you need to prop your upper body up with pillows when you sleep? Are you experiencing a fever? Are you volume deplete (are you drinking enough liquids)?

A change in your blood pressure, such as a decrease in BP, could be an indication of pathology, such as drug-induced hypotension (e.g., diuretics - "pee" pills), or a change in your heart function (e.g., congestive heart failure, myocardial infarct = heart damage from a "heart attack", or an irregular heart beat).

Please schedule an appointment with your physician to discuss your concerns. Or seek immediate medical attention if you experience chest pains, shortness of breath, or light-headedness.

Be well :)

User Avatar

Why are black or Asian males less hairy than males of other races?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Differences in body hair growth patterns among individuals of different races are primarily due to genetic factors. Black or Asian males may have less body hair than males of other races due to variations in their genetic makeup, which influence the distribution and density of hair follicles on their bodies. Hormonal levels can also impact body hair growth, with higher levels of androgens typically associated with increased hair growth, regardless of race.

User Avatar

Statistically they are the same. There may be more black men with above average length worldwide because there are more black people worldwide than white people but when you average things out they are roughly the same. Some people my be surprised to find out that the man with the largest at least in terms of length, from the pubic bone to the tip of the glans not counting foreskin, that has been independently verified and documented belongs to a white man.

The prostate gland secretion helps neutralize seminal fluid because it is alkaline in nature. This alkaline fluid, which makes up a significant portion of semen, helps neutralize the acidic environment of the urethra and vaginal tract, providing a more hospitable environment for sperm survival and motility.
