How long does it take to recover after you stop taking methadone?
Acute methadone withdrawal can last for up to two weeks, depending on the degree of addiction. Methadone metabolism produces long-lived metabolites that are also narcotic and create withdrawal symptoms. The best method involves SHORT TERM Suboxone therapy, preferably inpatient, with other medical support. Post acute withdrawal can last for several months, and ideally involves other kinds of care, principally emotional support, nutrition, exercise and medical evaluation for symptoms that may have been covered up by the addiction.
Recovery is a different issue entirely; it involves getting our emotional, physical and social life back to something like normal and, depending on how hard we are willing to work at it, can take from a few months to a couple of years -- to never.

# methadone and Wellbutrin (buPROPion) (Major Drug-Drug) SERIOUS PROBLEM: The use of bupropion is associated with a dose-related risk of seizures. The estimated incidence of seizures is approximately 0.1% at dosages up to 300 mg/day and 0.4% at dosages between 300 to 450 mg/day, but increases almost tenfold between 450 mg and 600 mg/day. The risk may also be increased during coadministration with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics), monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptic agents, central nervous system stimulants, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, phenothiazines), systemic steroids, and/or any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold (e.g., carbapenems, cholinergic agents, fluoroquinolones, interferons, chloroquine, mefloquine, lindane, theophylline). These agents are often individually epileptogenic and may have additive effects when combined.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Extreme caution is advised if bupropion is administered with any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold, particularly in the elderly and in patients with a history of seizures or other risk factors for seizures (e.g., head trauma; brain tumor; severe hepatic cirrhosis; metabolic disorders; CNS infections; excessive use of alcohol or sedatives; addiction to opiates, cocaine, or stimulants; diabetes treated with oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin). Bupropion as well as concomitant medications should be initiated at the lower end of the dose range and titrated gradually if feasible. The total dose of bupropion should generally not exceed 450 mg/day (or 150 mg every other day in patients with severe hepatic cirrhosis). Bupropion should be discontinued and not restarted in patients who experience a seizure during treatment.

You cannot eat grapefruit while taking methadone because certain organic compounds in the grapefruit will inhibit certain enzymes in your intestine and, to a lesser extent, your liver. Thus a toxic level may build up, rendering you dead from an opiate overdose.

Will methadone help hydromorphone withdrawl symptoms?
I see these questions alot, but they just do not make any sense to me. If you are trying to get off an opiate, why would you take another opiate? The answer is NO. There is a reason why they give methadone at clinics to get off opiates and not hydrocodone and oxycodone. Oxycodone and hydrocodone half a much shorter half-life than methadone, therefore you need MORE of it to get similar effects. What makes methadone a great tool for opiate recovery is that it lasts so long and because the euphoric effects are much less than hydrocodone. Therefore you can take much less and manage it much more easily at a lower cost. If you take hydrocodone to lesson your methadone withdrawal, then you are only building a tolerance for hydrocodone that will cause withdrawal symptoms as well. Again, why would you take a drug for withdrawal symptoms that cause withdrawal itself? Methadone is the best choice for opiate detox. If you are experiencing withdrawal serious enough to make you think about taking another opiate you are either 1., not ready to detox, or 2., are not being decreased properly by your doctor or clinic manager. The normal decrease rate for methadone is 1-2mg a WEEK. Yes, it's slow, but very effective and will have little to no withdrawal symptoms. This is all from personal experience.
Can you inject Methadone Hydrochloride?

Can you still have herpes without having the antibodies in your system?
Antibodies are part of the body's immune response to foreign bodies, or antigens. A foreign body can be anything from cat dander to a flu virus. For every antigen, there is a unique antibody, or immunoglobulin, that has a site to bind to a specific antigen, which is why flu shots and other inoculations can work--once the immune system recognizes the bacteria or virus and creates an antibody, it remembers how to make those antibodies and can thus quarantine the pathogens and destroy them before they can spread and infect the body.
Thus, without exposure to a herpes virus, either I or II, there would not be an appreciative amount of antibodies specific to herpes, or herpes antibodies, as the question phrases it. However, everyone has some of these antibodies, since the process of developing specific antibodies involves random mutations of genetic information to deduce what is needed to bind to the specific antigen. For clinical and diagnosing purposes, there exists is a cut-off point that determines if you have herpes or not.
If you want to see what your antibody level is, there is a really neat site that has some great information as well as some testing options. For Herpes I, or Oral Herpes or HSV 1, check out the first link in related links. For Herpes II, or Genital Herpes or HSV 2, check out the second link.

The concomitant use of methadone and ciprofloxacin is highly discouraged due to the increased risk of adverse effects of methadone (equating to methadone overdose).
Reason:
Inhibition of the enzymes that metabolize methadone (dolophine), i.e., CYP3A4 and/or CYP1A2 -- Ref: Eap et al. 2002; Herrlin et al. 2000.
Are there any side effects taking vicodin with morphine?
Yes, hon. First - there's always side affects to Vicadin and there's always "side affects" to smoking reefer. The two together is one hell of a buzz. An adult, well - a pot smoking adult answer would be: Anything that says do not take with Alcohol, don't take it with pot.
Personally, I figure as long as you're not going anywhere but to bed you SHOULD be OK... don't hold me to it. If you're taking Vicadin you must be in some kind of pain, right? I "take" pot for pain all the time.
Hmm... I think I'm getting a headache... ;}
