Yes... i had a decaying molar and when the pain got so severe i decided to try to find a painkiller to take. All I could find was methadone and being so desperate for pain relieve, I took one pill (not sure of dosage). it worked quite well for the pain but it also cured it! I awoke the next morning and there was still no pain. I soon realized that the tooth partially grew out.

This happened more than 6 months ago and although my tooth continued to fall apart, the pain never returned!!

I see these questions alot, but they just do not make any sense to me. If you are trying to get off an opiate, why would you take another opiate? The answer is NO. There is a reason why they give methadone at clinics to get off opiates and not hydrocodone and oxycodone. Oxycodone and hydrocodone half a much shorter half-life than methadone, therefore you need MORE of it to get similar effects. What makes methadone a great tool for opiate recovery is that it lasts so long and because the euphoric effects are much less than hydrocodone. Therefore you can take much less and manage it much more easily at a lower cost. If you take hydrocodone to lesson your methadone withdrawal, then you are only building a tolerance for hydrocodone that will cause withdrawal symptoms as well. Again, why would you take a drug for withdrawal symptoms that cause withdrawal itself? Methadone is the best choice for opiate detox. If you are experiencing withdrawal serious enough to make you think about taking another opiate you are either 1., not ready to detox, or 2., are not being decreased properly by your doctor or clinic manager. The normal decrease rate for methadone is 1-2mg a WEEK. Yes, it's slow, but very effective and will have little to no withdrawal symptoms. This is all from personal experience.

When one takes Methadone, meaning methadone treatment, do not need to take Morphine. Therefore, taking those two for my personal opinion one do not have a need to take them together. You ether take Methadone alone, which according to me is the best one to take, or, just Morphine alone. So preferably do not mix them together.

Any doctor can persribe methadone to a patient as long as there is just casuse. However many doctors won't because of the risk of addiction. If you ahve pain that seriously need attention I recommend seeing a pain doctor. Or someone who specializes in chronic pain.

As in most of these answers, they are right but partially right at best. It depends what you are using methedone for? If you are using it as a N.R.T. as it used most often, then you are only going to take it once a day. The problem with this is that th e half life is in very long, it will wear off before 48 hours. It is all contingent on what you are dosing at and how long you have been on it? with those variables answered there is a much better chance of answering the question accurately.

Lamictal is a mood stabilizer that requires blood work in order to be prescribed ( i was once on it) and I am sure you know the functions of the other two does not seem like a good idea to me. Yes, if used in the right way. Methadone saved my life and gave me the ability to get off the street and not have to hustle money everyday. It also has alot less intoxicating effects so that you can function at a higher level. It is also a very good pain killer for pain mangagement from what I have heard. But it is important to use methadone the "right way" and get proper therapy while taking it. If you stay at a lower dose and stay away from all other drugs it is incredibly helpful and takes all cravings for opiates away for the most part.

My fiancee and I have a beautiful normally developing 18 month old son that we conceived while on heroin... The law states that heroin use in pregnant women is illegal and harmful to the fetus so we switched to a methadone clinic... Her pregnancy was textbook with no problems, however, she went 5 days past her due date and further inquiry at the methadone clinic we attend informed us that most other women experienced the same thing... I will warn u that the baby will be born addicted to the methadone and few doctors have very much experience in this area resulting in a lot of differences in opinion and a lot of trial and error. We went to a very well known prestigious hospital for women in Indianapolis, IN and unfortunately due to the lac of knowledge on the subject our son was basically a guinea pig for 53 days while doctor and nurses tried different combinations of education to wean him off... Basically they kept him sock and suffering for much longer than he should have... Be very careful of how high the pregnant females dose is. Be very careful and thoroughly honest when selecting the hospital you will deliver your baby through, be honest, its not illegal to use methadone while pregnant as long as its doctor prescribed. And I advise breast feeding and weening the child off over a 4 to 6 month period onto a bottle of formula by first breast feeding then pumping and adding the breast milk to first a little than slightly more amounts of formula until ur just giving the baby formula OR the woman slowly weening herself off methadone during breast feeding because though very little methadone actually goes through the breast milk... It doesn't take very much to effect a baby... Also as a side note... We have been pregnant three times in a two year period while both regularly attending the methadone clinic so it hasn't effected us at all, though studies show that sperm level are reduced and a woman's menstrual cycle are all effected by opiate and opioid abuse... Oh last thing.. For some reason methadone makes it difficult to breast feed so ladies prepare for some painful engorgement and frustration of ur planning to breast feed and always remain under the care of a good knowledgeable doctor anytime a baby or pregnancy is involved
