How quickly does methadone get in your system?
Methadone, when taken orally, will start to metabolize almost immediately but because of how it metabolizes it takes longer to reach its peak effect. Depending on multiple factors like metabolism, weight&size, pregnancy, and even being of asian descent can cause methadone to metabolize faster. But the general peak of blood serum levels is between 2.5 to 4 hours. But I alwayse notice the effects by the first hour and as my body adjusts to the increase in methadone serum levels ill start to feel more "normal", usualy 1.5 to 2 hours after the start of the effects. I'm using the word normal as in when I start to feel the physical warmth and mental uplift start wearing off but still feel the effects of not going into withdrawl for about 24 hours. Being a pretty severe opiod dependent its not necessarily "normal" to feel "normal" without any withdrawl symptoms for that long. So someone who isn't an opiod/opiate addict/dependent may actually feel the effects for the 24 hours, but the first 3 to 5 hours after ingestion will probably feel the most potent as your body adjusts to the overload of reaction chemicals being released in the brain because of opiates or opiods attaching themselves to the opiate recepters in the brain.
Will you die if you take methadone with seroquel?
This can be a dangerous combination of medications to take. Please consult with your physician before taking either of these medications.
I have been on methadone for 10 years and on Seroquel for 6 and I am just fine. I did find out however that if I don't take my methadone or some sort of opiate, and I still take my Seroquel I get horrible Restless Leg Syndrome. I was off methadone for a few months and it was hell. I got back on my methadone and was find. Now I am detoxing from methadone and as the dose lowers I am getting Restless Leg Syndrome again which upsets me because I want off of the methadone but need Seroquel for sleep. I am in a quandry.
You should avoid benzodiazepines and ETOH (alcohol) while taking methadone. Methadone, benzodiazepines and alcohol are all respiratory suppressants combining any of these three can lead to respiratory arrest and possibly death.

You need to read up on herbal preparations. Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) has properties that act on the nervous system. The pharmacist likely thought you were a methodone user (and e.g. read that as the derogatory "drug abuser") who was seeking to potentate (make greater) the methadone effects to get an altered state of consciousness (e,g. "get high").
I do not know the dispensing laws pharmacists must uphold by law-- but it seems this was a bit of an over-reaction. The pharmacist should also be willing to explain why a product's ingredients could interfere with your other medications.
So, as far as your grandkids, play it safe and ask another relative to buy those products as long as you are on methadone treatment.
For yourself, talk to your methadone prescriber and ask them to give you a list of herbal preparations you should avoid while on methadone. That way, you won't face embarrassment when a well-intended pharmacist or pharmacy tech refuses to sell a product to you, brings up your methadone script in front of strangers in public, and then, not explain the reasons in clear language (not medical-ese). Also tell your prescriber about this incident and ask what other kinds of pharmacy products could raise eyebrows or get you in trouble if you tried to buy it-- because you certainly don't want trouble in your life. ALL physicians should be willing to educate methadone patients about herbal preparations, since herbs and even some foods DO interact with a variety of meds (for example: blood-thinners, like Coumadin).
What did people do for pain before morphine?

What happens if methadone dose is high when switching to suboxone?
You will be VERY VERY sick if you still have methadone in your system. Wait at least 48 hours and 72hours if you can make it that long. Do not take suboxone before 48hours because the suboxone will send you into a type of severe hyper-withdrawal. Trust me on this....wait the 48 hours or more if you can stand the withdrawals. Good luck.
What are the reasons that some people would use methadone and others can only tolerate LAAM?

Can you mix alprazolam and methadone wafers?
yes, you can but should you?? It will get you a very euphoric high but with extreme possibilities of an overdose. Xanax is the worse for this. Clonazepam is a bit safer in my experience. Good Luck. (I AM NOT A DOCTOR)
What medications contain methadone?
Methadone is primarily available as a standalone medication in various formulations, including oral tablets, oral solution, and injectable forms. It is commonly prescribed under brand names such as Dolophine and Methadose for pain management or as part of a treatment program for opioid use disorder. Additionally, it may be included in combination products for specific medical uses, but it is most frequently administered on its own. Always consult a healthcare provider for specific medication formulations and uses.
Is methadone clinic in pigeon forge?
As of my last knowledge update in October 2023, there are no specific methadone clinics located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. However, nearby towns may have treatment facilities that offer methadone as part of their addiction recovery programs. It's best to check local resources or healthcare providers for the most current information.
How long does 10mg per day methadone stay in system for a 1 year user?
Methadone can remain in the system for several days, with a half-life ranging from 8 to 59 hours, depending on individual factors like metabolism, age, and duration of use. For someone who has been using 10 mg daily for a year, methadone can be detected in urine for up to 7-10 days after the last dose, while it may linger in the bloodstream for longer. Additionally, chronic use can lead to accumulation in the body, potentially extending the detection window. It's important to note that individual variations can significantly affect these timelines.
How do they wean you off of methadone?
My experience has been that several options are offered, Klonidine patches, ativan, or xanax for the extreme anxiety seem to be the most helpful. If diarrhea is troublesome, some over the counter immodium ad will help wonders. For the aches and pains, 800 mg of Advil/Ibuprofen every 4-6 hours will take the edge off. I have also know some who have been given Subuxon to help with the overall withdrawal effects. Every one go thru this differently. It's important to stay in contact with your primary care physician or other person overseeing your withdrawal so that you are able to get care and treatment appropriate for your exact situation. Many options are available both prescription and over the counter to aid in the comfort of going through this process.
Is methadone used to withdraw from opiates?
Yes, methadone is commonly used as a treatment to help individuals withdraw from opiates. It is a long-acting synthetic opioid that can reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, allowing for a more manageable detoxification process. Methadone is typically administered as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that may include counseling and support services. However, it should only be used under medical supervision due to its potential for dependence and side effects.
Can you take neurontin with methadone?
It is suggested that no nerve pills be taken along with Methdone. A toxic reaction can occur and usually death follows. Especially Xanax and Klonipin the main culprit. Many have died, even on the first time. Care should be advised and a long talk with your Doctor or pharmacist should help ease your fears.
Still deaths occurs in many people. Be honest with your Doctor.
While the above answer is correct it is the abuse of and overdose that causes death, not those used correctly - mixing with alcohol raises the very real possibility of death from overdose. Please see information at link and as the first answer says, be honest with any prescribing doctor. The life you save may be your own.
Yes, a physician assistant (PA) can write methadone prescriptions, but this often depends on state laws and regulations. In some states, PAs must have a supervising or collaborating physician, while others allow more autonomy. Additionally, the PA must be properly trained and may need a specific waiver to prescribe methadone for opioid use disorder. It's essential to verify the regulations specific to the state in question.
Does eating make methadone wear off?
Eating does not directly cause methadone to wear off; however, food can influence the absorption and metabolism of the medication. Consuming a meal may slow down the absorption of methadone, potentially affecting its overall effectiveness. It's important for individuals on methadone to follow their healthcare provider's guidance regarding food and medication to ensure optimal treatment outcomes. Always consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
Will it hurt you to take two Tylenol 500 with methadone?
Taking two Tylenol (acetaminophen) 500 mg tablets with methadone is generally considered safe, as there are no direct interactions between the two drugs.
