How do you open attachments without having to go to Excel?

It depends on what program or webmail service you're using. Most webmail services will automatically display any email attachments that are images directly in the email itself. If it's some other file type, you need the appropriate program or software to open the file, such as an audio player for mp3 files, image program for images, Word for Word documents, and so forth. Look for a small paper clip icon on the email's window. Some programs, by clicking on the paper clip, a drop down list will pop open and you just click on the filename and it will download onto your computer.

Shows which toggle keys are engaged?

There is no longer any indicators built into Excel to indicate the status of a toggle key, such as the caps lock. Older versions (especially DOS versions) used to have an indicator bar at the bottom of the screen, but that was removed a long time ago; I do not know which version changed that procedure. Now, you need to look at your keyboard or other indicator to tell the state of the keys. Some verisons of Excel pop up a small box at the bottom right corner of the screen letting you know when you change the state of a toggle key, but the box remains only for a few seconds.

What is the first argument required by Excel's built-in IF function?

For my example you have a number '2' in cell D4

The first argument would be: Logical Test.

Example of IF Argument: =IF(Logical Test, True, False)

So the logical test is what you are testing, IF Cell D4=2, the value would be true, if it didn't equal 2 the value would be false.

Response Sept 2012 - to above answer. I wish folks who "attempt" to answer these questions, note the quotes around attempt, for that's all they are, feable attempts at most, would first learn how to READ the question. The question is one I have been searching for the past week, with no luck. It may require a VBA program to accomplish, but at this time I have found no combination of keys that will return you to the immediately previous cell you were in. Let's assume for the moment we are on the same worksheet. By going back to the previous cell I'm sure the questions means if I'm in cell B 12, and then scroll down to cell P 154 and enter something, how do I get back to cell B 12 without having to cursor up and over to it or hitting the "goto" icon on the upper left of the worksheet and typing in B 12.

What are the sheet tabs in Microsoft Excel?

A sheet tab appears at the bottom of your worksheet. It has the name of the worksheet on it, which can be changed and you can also change its colour. This can be done by right clicking on it and picking the option from the shortcut menu that appears. By clicking a sheet tab, you can make that sheet the active sheet so that you can work on it. You can click on the sheet tab to move its position by dragging on it, or also from the shortcut menu.

What is Microsoft Excel used for in the banks?

Microsoft Excel is one of the fundamental computer programs used for accounting and financial services. It allows banks to respond more quickly to customer and client needs, to have better knowledge of the status of their financial assets, and allows a banker to service more clients with less work.

  1. Data Entry and Automation
    • Banks make their money off of accurate record-keeping of financial assets. By using several features in Excel, including entering formulas once and cutting and pasting to new cells, and making cells with formulas that are read-only, Excel greatly reduces the time to make those records and the likelihood of errors.

    Banking Related Excel Functions
    • Excel has a number of functions that are designed around invoicing, such as DATE, and EDATE. These functions allow banks to track when payments are due on loans and when to send out statements. They also can be used to track maturity dates on certificates of deposit.

    Platform For Customized Applications
    • While Excel's functions (like EDATE) are very flexible, Excel also comes with Visual Basic for Applications, which allows automation of routine tasks, such as end of business day copying of data from workstations to a centralized accounting check point. Most banks have built thousands of macros and customized programs on top of Excel's functionality, which would cost millions of dollars to replace if they were done again from scratch.
