Can you take Excedrin migraine while pregnant?
Excedrin Migraine, which is the same as regular Excedrin, contains three ingredients. One is Tylenol (acetaminophen), which is safe to take during pregnancy. The second is aspirin, which is not recommended during pregnancy. The third is caffeine, and Excedrin has about the same caffeine as a cup of coffee can have at its weakest. Caffeine usually seen as fine in moderation during pregnancy.
So, because of the aspirin, the answer is no.
However, you can take Tylenol. You can even take Tylenol with codeine or Vicodin or Percocet, so long as you are taking them in limited amounts and only when you absolutely need them. The dangers of opiates during pregnancy are few so long as use is not consistent enough to hook the baby on the medication.
A migraine can be described as headaches going overdrive; it is a form of vascular headache, caused by the enlargement of the blood vessels as well as the release of chemicals that coil around these vessels. Whenever a migraine attacks you, the artery that lies just outside the skull and just under the skin of the temple, called the temporal artery, becomes enlarged, causing the nerves that coil around it to stretch and release chemicals. The chemicals, in turn, cause the artery to become more inflamed, which becomes more painful, and further enlarges the artery. It is a vicious circle that goes on for hours, or even days.
How does soda help a migraine headache?
Gatorade can help a migraine headache mainly by assisting with dehydration. Dehydration can be a cause of migraine, or it can (through nausea/vomiting) cause a migraine to become worse. There are many migraineurs who end up in the ER, not because of pain, but because they require essential fluids.
If you are having trouble keeping fluids down, you can try taking one tablespoon of Gatorade, every two-five minutes. You want it to be room temperature, because the shock of cold to your stomach can cause vomiting when you are already in that state.
What is the best type of birth control?
Using a condom while on birth control is the safest after abstinence due to the fact that it prevents diseases and pregnancy.
The only method of birth control which also prevents spreading any sexually transmitted diseases is abstinence.
Since abstinence is very unlikely to be a good method of birth control after one starts having sex - including married couples who don't want to conceive immediately or those who have had a child and aren't ready for another - the best thing for you to do is have a talk with your doctor or family planning counselor, about what method works best for your lifestyle.
See information about different methods of BC at link.
By using CONDOM during making sex, its best way of birth control
It all depends on what you want and what your doctor thinks is best for you.

Stress has been removed from the ICHD-II's headache classification as a trigger for Migraine. As a result, it is unlikely that you'll receive a diagnosis of stress related Migraine which will lead to disability. Migraine itself is considered a disability and those who suffer chronic Migraine are often disabled by their condition.
For appropriate diagnosis, treatment and prevention of headache disorders, seek the help of a board certified headache specialist.
-----------------------Disability PossibleYou could, however only if your physician is willing to take you off work and most likely only a for a very limited time frame (like at a max something like 3 weeks) unless there are some other circumstances or treatments that would keep you from working. For information, resources and related links go The National Council On Disability (NCD)
To add to this - Migraines caused by stress or anxiety would be considered a "soft" diagnosis. Although a Dr. can diagnose the condition, only you can truly tell how sever the symptoms are and how much they truly affect your work.
This is one of the reasons working with a reputable insurance company and obtaining a quality policy is worth the money. Some contracts will include limitations of benefits for these type of claims, but it should not be limited to 3 weeks only.
Can you die from frequent migraines?

Can Prozac and depakote be taken together?
I don't recommend it, I did so, and experienced self-induced seizures.
You can take Depakote with Tramadol as long as you don't exceed more than 3 a day. I am on both meds and the pharamists told me that and I have lived by it, and I have not had seizures but then again I am taking Depakote for BiPolar Disorder not epilepsy.
What is the cause of migraines?
It used to be thought that when you get a migraine attack, the blood vessels in your head expand, causing unbearable pain in the head. This was called the Vascular Theory. We now know through recent research that Migraine is a genetic neurological disease that may or may not involve a vascular component.
Many people don't know why they get migraines, but there can be many triggers which make it more likely for an attack to begin.
Some triggers are:
1.Smoking/Smoke
2. Foods such as cheese, chocolate, coconut, processed meats, etc.
3. Lack of exercise
4. Changing sleeping patterns
5. Skipping meals
6. Weather
7. Hormonal fluctuations
Stress an anxiety were removed from the International Criteria for Headache Diagnosis (ICHD II), however they are still considered contributing factors.
There are everyday things you can do to PREVENT Migraine attacks including taking preventive therapies.
For appropriate diagnosis, treatment and prevention of headache disorders, seek the help of a board certified headache specialist.
No form of Depakote can be crushed. If a patient can not take pills whole you would want to see if the MD would switch the patient to Depakote Sprinkles that can be mixed in with food or to the liquids form
How do you prevent cheeking medications?
In psychiatric care centers and prisons, medications are usually administered as liquids followed by a glass of water to prevent later hoarding of medications.
Can you take depakote and guaifenesin?
Yes they can. Remember that guaifenesin is an expectorant, so you need to drink more water while you are sick. It can also make you a little jittery or nervous. You might also try taking a hot, steamy shower - that helps many people with a chest cold and cough.
Can you mix hydrocodone withAPAP and Excedrin Migraine?
It is unwise to begin mixing hydrocodone/APAP with any form of Excedrin, because they both contain acetaminophen. It it has been four to six hours after you have taken Excedrin, then you are following the instructions on the label and are not in any danger.
Excedrin contains 250mg of acetapinophen per pill.
Hydrocodone/APAP can contain anywhere from 325-750mg per pill. The most commonly prescribed dose has 500mg of acetaminophen in it.
You should not take more than 4000mg of acetaminophen in a day. If you are taking it daily, you should not take more than 3000mg. Per dose, you should not take more than 1000mg.
So, how unsafe it is depends on how much you have taken of each medication.
Always read the label, because many, many over the counter medications contain acetaminophen.
How does barometric pressure affect people?
If the barometric pressure drops suddenly, as it does often before a storm, and your sinus passageway is blocked, the higher pressure in the sinus will press on the bones surrounding it to cause a horrible headache. When your nose is stuffy, the inner linings of your nose are swollen, and the same swelling can shut the sinus passageway, preventing air pressure inside your sinus from changing to balance the pressure outside, and you can develop a sinus headache.

What are some meds to prevent migraines?
When you begin to have migraine headaches twice or more a month, it is important to seek the help of a neurologist or headache specialist in developing a preventative regimen. This is because the more you let these headaches occur, the more likely it is that they will become even more frequent.
Here are some of the more common preventative medications prescribed:
Tricyclic Antidepressants:
Nortriptyline
Amitriptyline
Beta Blockers:
Propranolol
Atenolol
Calcium-Channel Blockers:
Verapamil
ACE Inhibitors:
Lisinopril
Anti-Seizure Medications:
Depakote
Topamax
Zonegran
Lamictal
Keppra
Neurontin (commonly prescribed for those in chronic pain as well, because it works with GABA neurotransmission and increases your normal threshold for pain)
Lyrica (like Neurontin, it works with GABA neurotransmission)
SSRIs:
Prozac
Doxepin
Celexa
Lexapro
SNRIs:
Cymbalta
Effexor
Other:
Wellbutrin
Some people have found that intranasal lidocaine, when used daily - may help prevent, as well as abort migraines.
New:
Namenda, a prescription for Alzheimers, has been shown possibly be the first preventative to work with the spreading cortical depression which is the cause of the migraine. The majority of other medications work directly with the blood vessels, work with serotonin, or work to keep the nerves in line so they don't misfire. If we can prevent the entire process of migraine - from beginning to end, we may have the best shot of truly preventing them.
Things to be aware of when starting a preventative treatment program.
# It takes at least three months before you know if a medication will work as a preventative for you or not. Many of these medications need time to get proper plasma levels, as well as getting to a dose that will work for you. It takes a lot of patience, but having your life back is well worth it.
# Sometimes a person needs more than one preventative medication. Headache specialists are often pairing together medications from the different categories.
# It is important to continue keeping a headache diary when you begin a treatment regimen. Your headache diary should include the length of the migraine, and your pain level on a range from 1-10. This is because some medications not only reduce the number of migraines you will have in a month, but reduce their length and intensity. If you look back your diary, you may see that the medication is beginning to help you, even if you are not having less incidences of headache.
Can you take excedrin migraine and dayquil same day?
This depends how much Excedrin Migraine or how much Dayquil you are having.
Both Excedrin (Extra Strength or Migraine) and Dayquil contain acetaminophen (Tylenol). An overdose of acetaminophen can cause liver damage, sometimes liver failure. You should not be taking more than 1000mg of acetaminophen in a six hour period of time, and no more than 4000mg in a 24 hour period.
Each tablet of Excedrin Extra Strength or Excedrin Migraine contains 250mg of acetaminophen. So, each dose contains 500mg.
Each tablet of Dayquil contains 325mg of acetaminophen. Each dose contains 650mg.
It is up to you to add up what you are taking so that you are not taking more than is recommended.
If you think you may have overdosed on acetaminophen, seek emergency care. The sooner they are able to treat you, the more likely it is they can help save your liver.
What side affects are there from depakote?
The most severe side effects are the 10 times higher than average incidence rates of serious, irreversible birth defects (teratogenic) such as births of brainless babies (anencephaly). People who take this drug can experience a variety of side effects, some of which may or may not require immediate medical attention. Especially dangerous side effects include vomiting, loss of appetite, fever, or dark urine. These suggest a possibility of liver damage. People taking this drug should also call their doctor if they experience other serious side effects. Some serious side effects are unusual bleeding (especially in the urine), hallucinations, and extreme drowsiness. Some people also experience constipation from use of this drug. 1% to 10% of people report weight gain and increased appetite. The same percentage also reports abnormal dreams. Major risk of birth defects such as spina bifida has been demonstrated among populations of female patients who took the medicine in childbearing age.
What could cause numbness in the head and side of the face?
Provided you have ruled out a stroke. I have had this sensation occur and it was due to a misalignment in my vertebrae pressing on nerves. I went to my chiropractor and he resolved the issue in 2 minutes. With bi-weekly follow-ups, it has never returned.
AnswerIt could be as simple as stress. When we get stressed or even just sitting all day at a computer (at work) our necks and back take a beating. You could have a pinched nerve in your back or neck. My bet it's your neck. Here's a test:Just up on the meaty part of your upper shoulders, press down quite hard with your fingers and see if this numbness goes away. Don't forget to try it on both sides. Also use the flat of your fingers and press firmly up the base of your neck. If the numbness subsides, you have a neck problem. If this is the case and you can afford to go to a massage therapist please do. If you can't afford it get someone to massage your neck or put some heat on it and take a break for a bit. Be sure your pillow on your bed is a good one and craddles your neck area. If it doesn't you can buy a sponge pillow with the neck support quite cheap or you can go to a drug store and ask if they sell the sponge roll to put inside your pillow case just below your original pillow. I use the roll and find I have gotten rid of a lot of numbness and neck pain.
If this doesn't work it's worth seeing your doctor to be sure you don't have any type of nerve damage. I highly doubt it, but it can't hurt to have it checked out.
Good luck Marcy
Answerthis could be bells pallsy. the nerve travelling through the ear cannal becomes swollen and damaged. it would feel like being under a dental anasthetic on one side of the faceCan Percocet be used to treat migraines?
Percocet can be used to treat the pain of a migraine. If the patient responds well to the Percocet, they may find that they notice very little, to none of their pain, and are able to wait out the length of the migraine.
It is important to note that in most people, Percocet will simply be a band-aid, and may not sufficiently treat the other symptoms of migraine, such as nausea/vomiting (although in some people, a decrease in pain will ease this), sensitivity to light and sound, and aura.
It also important to note that if you have frequent headaches and/or migraines, you need to watch how often you are taking these types of preparations to treat your pain (yes, this includes OTC meds like Excedrin, Tylenol, and Advil). Using them more than 2-3 days every week, or more than half the days of a month, can predispose a person to rebound headache, which can result in Chronic Daily Headache. And the only way to get rid of rebound headache is to stop taking all the meds that you've been over-taking to treat the headache, and wait through the pain until you are out of the cycle. So it important to NOT get yourself in that cycle.
Can Topamax be used to treat migraines?
== == Yes. Topamax is an anti-epileptic medication (AED). It has shown off-label benefit to migraine patients in doses from 25mg to 200mg. Side effects can be pretty harsh on the body for some people, so make sure you find a doctor who is willing to up the dose slowly. Addition by Echo646: One of the ways to reduce the side effects is to split the dose between morning and night. Update: Topamax was approved for the prevention of migraine several years ago. It is one of the most commonly used migraine preventive agents - taken once daily. Topamax significantly reduces the amount of migraine headaches and the disability associated with attacks. Some people, who have in exess of 3 migraines a month, get rid of their migraines altogether. Side effects are not an issue at the low dose needed for migraines (100 mg/ day). I wonder where people get their misinformation... Probably from actually taking the medication. I take the medication for migraine...
Note: Side effects vary with people. There are some people who cannot tolerate the lowest dose, 25 mg. There are some people who go up to the highest doses used for migraine without a problem (200mg). There are also people who can go up to 800mg/day or 1000mg/day, the highest dose used for neuropathic pain or epilepsy.
Side effects always vary with the person taking the medication. But they still bear repeating.
What is the treatment for vulvovaginitis?
The most common causes of vaginitis, candida (monilia, yeast infection) and bacterial vaginosis are due to imbalances in the vaginal environment. Often, they will resolve on their own without treatment, but most women prefer to take treatment to get rid of symptoms more quickly. Atrophic vaginitis, due to decreased estrogen, will often improve without treatment, but treatment can improve comfort and health in the interim. Vaginitis due to chemical irritants or allergens will also often resolve without treatment. Trichomoniasis, a cause of vaginitis spread by sex, needs treatment to go away.
Does NuvaRing cause migraines?
The Ring, or any other estrogen based form of birth control, can cause migraines. Sharp increases and decreases in estrogen are known to trigger migraines. It doesn't for all people. Some people find that birth control improves their migraines, some people finds it makes them worse. For some, it makes no difference at all. The Ring is contraindicated in those with migraine with aura, because migraine with aura also raises stroke risk.
No. Depakote is an anti-convulsant, most often used in cases of epilepsy. It is also used, off label, for bipolar disorder and is sometimes prescribed for nervous system disorders.
