Can a guy who is Filipino and is a member of Iglesia ni Cristo date a white girl who is Mormon?

lol, i don't think you should be posting this question on the internet, but if you're really wondering... Alot of times within the teachings, it says we shouldn't because we might stray away from our faith. But you can always show her the church and the teachings, so that hopefully one day she might convert.

What is the difference what Catholics believe from what Mormons believe?

Catholics are Christians who follow the teachings and leadership of the Roman Catholic Pope, who is based in Rome, Italy. Other Christians who are not Catholics generally do not follow the Pope, and have different views of what is important in the rituals of the Christian religion. Religions that are not Christian religions are more different, as they do not consider Jesus to have been divine or the son of the deity.

Is mormonism similar to free masonry?

No. While members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' Church) may also belong to Masonic lodges (this was much more common in the 19th century than it is today), they are not otherwise related in any way. Masons are a fraternal charitable organization for men, and "Mormonism" is a Restorationist Christian religion.

What is a Mormon dating service?

Additionally, there are many local groups around the world which host Mormon singles events, and the church itself even sponsors events, activities, and sometimes whole congregations that serve as a place for single Mormons to meet. These are usually divided between "young singles" (ages 18-30) and "adult singles" (ages 31+).

Mormons and why did they migrate westward?

The Mormons moved west in search of a place where they could practice their religion in peace. The church was founded in upstate New York in 1830, but over the first 15 years moved from New York to Ohio to Missouri to Illinois in search of peace and acceptance. In each place, they were hated, beaten, robbed, had their homes burned, chased out of town, etc. After the Prophet Joseph Smith was murdered in 1844, the local government asked them to leave the state of Illinois in order to preserve the peace. They moved to the Salt Lake Valley, a mostly desolate land with little fresh water, little vegetation, and very extreme weather. Some explorers thought that it would be impossible for the land to sustain a permanent settlement, but Salt Lake City and the surrounding towns are still growing and thriving today.

From 1845 to about 1910, Mormons around the world were encouraged to move to the west. This was because long distance communication was difficult and made unity among the church a challenge. From 1845 to 1870, the primary source of transportation was by covered wagon, horseback, or handcart (a two-wheeled wagon which was pulled by hand, not by pack animals). Following this time, the railroad came through which allowed safer and faster travel. Railroad was the primary transportation the Mormons took to move west between 1870 and 1910.

Now, Mormons are encouraged to live abroad to build up the church wherever they may be. Still, many Mormons live in the west by choice (about 25% of all Mormons live west of the Mississippi in the United States) because they enjoy living near to other people with a similar lifestyle and belief system.

How many original Book of Mormons exist?

500 of the original 5,000 printed copies are believed to exist. There is no way to know for sure. If you find one, it is very collectible.

  • Only 28% of the original manuscript now survives. The majority of what remains of the original manuscript is now kept in the LDS Church Archives.
  • The original printer's manuscript is now the earliest complete surviving copy of the Book of Mormon, being nearly 100% intact. it is owned by the Community of Christ.
  • The original 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon was published by E.B. Grandin in Palmyra, New York. He originally published 5,000 copies. It is believed that only 500 survive today, but scanned images are available online, see related links below.
In 1970, Herald Heritage published a Facsimile of the 1830 edition which is still in print. In 2006, Stratford Press also published a facsimile of the 1830 editions. This facsimile is also still in print.

Why did Brigham young became the leader of the Mormon church?

After Joseph Smith was murdered, there was some controversy as to who would become the leader of the church. This is called the Mormon Succession Crisis. The Church gathered to have a conference and discuss what should be done. Already, many favored Brigham Young as he was close to the prophet and was the senior Apostle. However, Joseph's wife and several other prominent church figures disagreed. At the conference, some claimed that Brigham spoke with the voice of Joseph and understood this to be a sign that Brigham should be the next leader.

When Brigham advocated moving west, most of the church went with him. However, some, including Joseph's wife and children, stayed behind and formed the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (now called the Community of Christ) while others formed different independent branches. Some of these independent branches still exist and are colloquially known by the names of their early leaders (i.e. Strangite, Bickertonite, Cutlerite).

After arriving in Salt Lake City, Brigham Young was officially ordained as the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since that time, the senior Apostle (usually the President of the Quorum) has been considered the rightful successor.

What are the different types of Mormons?

Anyone who is a "Mormon" is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church is very unified in its organization and doctrine, so all Mormons should have most of the same beliefs and practices. However, Mormons do come from all races, nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds. Mormons are rich and poor, White and Black, Asian and Hispanic. They are united by their common faith and nothing else.

Of course everyone has a different level of activity or involvement in their religious faith. Some Mormons are more religous than others, just as you would find in any religion. Mormons sometimes refer to 'active', 'less-active', and 'non-active' members, which refers to how active an individual is in their congregation.

There are also a small number who claim to be Mormon but are actually members of various break off groups. They still believe the basic foundation of Mormonism, and so call themselves Mormons, but disagree with the mainstream Mormon church on some aspect. For example, some call themselves "Mormon Fundamentalists" or "Mormon Polygamists". These are not members of the mainstream Mormon church, so they are not technically Mormons. They belong to splinter groups which broke off when the mainstream church banned the practice of polygamy. They are not recognized as Mormons by the "Mormon" church.

What are Mormon sacred undergarments?

Devout members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wear sacred undergarments, called temple garments, as a physical symbol of their covenants with God. The garments are thin, white shorts and a t-shirt that come in a variety of fabrics. Both men and women wear them.

Why did Joseph Smith travel the Mormon trail?

This question is a two part question that has no answer. The Mormon Trail is commonly known as the trek westward from the state of Illinois to the (now state) of Utah which began in 1846. The Prophet Joseph Smith was assassinated prior to the trek westward in 1844. Therefore Joseph Smith never traveled the Mormon Trail.

How old is mormonism?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) believe that they are practicing the same religion practiced by Adam and Eve, so they might say that their religion is 6,000 years old.

The Church itself was officially established on April 6, 1830, making it 182 years old this year (2012). Mormons believe that the truth was lost from the earth at the death of Jesus' Apostles and thus had to be restored to the earth.

Why do Mormons wear Jesus jammies?

The temple garment you refer to is a quiet and personal reminder of sacred covenants that an individual has made with Christ. They represent a deep personal commitment to use every bit of heart, might, mind and strength one possesses to serve Jesus Christ in word, deed and thought.

However if it is the idea of a sacred garment of any kind that you have a problem with then you need look no further than the Old Testament for examples of God's followers being required to wear sacred and symbolic clothing. All of ancient Israel was required to wear some sort of symbolic clothing. Especially the priests. A description of the symbolic clothing the priests were supposed to wear anciently can be found in Exodus chapter 28.

What did the Mormons do in 1847?

What causes a Mormon to be excommunicated?

Well, at the end of the process there is a disciplinary hearing where both sides are presented, and that disciplinary hearing determines whether the member remains a member or not. A lot is involved in the decision, and it is to be made with great care, with the best interest of the member in mind. Even if the member is excommunicated, that person can eventually be re-baptized if they repent and come back. Also, a lot goes on before a disciplinary hearing, and a member can get a lot of help just by going to the Bishop with anything serious. Depending on the issue, it might not even go to a disciplianry hearing. Most issues can be resolved just between you and the bishop.

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) believe in the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament. They typically use the King James Version of the Bible. Church leaders have said that the Crucifixion and Resurrection are the two most important events in the history of the world. The Crucifixion satisfied justice and made it possible for all who come to Christ to be saved, and the Resurrection conquored death and made it possible for all men to live again in the Kingdom of God.

The earth was covered with water, minerals, gases and elements. How do I know? Water consists of hydrogen and oxygen, so gases, elements, minerals and like substances were present.

Where did the Mormons migrate to?

The Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has expanded all over the world. As of December 31, 2004, there are 12,275,822 members over all continents, 51,067 full-time Missionaries, 26,670 churches, and a total of 119 Temples in operation. The first expansion of the LDS Church was to England and then the Pacific islands, particularly Polynesia, Tonga, and Australia.

"Mormon" does not refer to any number of the other groups that were formed following Joseph Smith's death. The Associated Press Stylebook notes: "The term Mormon is not properly applied to the other ... churches that resulted from the split after [Joseph] Smith's death." These include the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which is based in Independence, Missouri. Other groups have been based in Michigan, Utah, and elsewhere. Of these other sects, the RLDS (now known as Community of Christ) is the largest and they are all world-wide.

Who is the angel on top of the Mormon tabernacle?

The Angel Moroni typically faces east. Presumably this is symbolic of Moroni heralding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, who will come from the east (Matthew 24:27). Not all Moroni statues face east, however. One exception is the Angel Moroni atop the Nauvoo, Illinois Temple. This angel faces to the West in commemoration of the Saints' Trek to the Great Salt Lake Valley from Nauvoo. Other Moroni statues that do not face east are: Accra Ghana (NorthEast); Anchorage Alaska (NorthEast); Apia Samoa (SouthWest); Boise Idaho (South); Buenos Aires Argentina (SouthEast); Chicago Illinois (North); Dallas Texas (South); Johannesburg South Africa (South); Kona Hawaii (NorthEast); London England (South); Manhattan New York (SouthWest); Manila Philippines (West); Mexico City Mexico (south); Nuku'Alofa Tonga (West); Oaxaca Mexico (SouthEast); St. Louis Missouri (South); Santiago Chile (South); Seattle Washington (West); Seoul Korea (south); Stockholm Sweden (south); Suva Fiji (south); Taipei Taiwan (west); and Veracruz Mexico (west).

Temples with no Angel Moroni statue are Cardston Alberta; Hamilton New Zealand; Laie Hawaii; Logan Utah; Manti Utah; Oakland California; and St. George Utah.
