Eliezer's name means "My God is help" or "The God of my father was my help and delivered me from the sword of Pharoah".

Also, in 1 Chronicles 3:14-15 it states "..Now the sons of Moses the man of God were reckoned to the tribe of Levi. The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.

Why did it take God so long to give the Ten Commandments and allow the antediluvian world to function without guidance?

The Bible reveals that:

"...DEATH came into the world THROUGH A MAN, ADAM... everyone DIES because ALL OF US ARE RELATED TO ADAM, the first man..." (I Cor.15:21-22 NLT New Living Translation).

The Bible also reveals that: "...the wages [the penalty] of SIN is DEATH..." (Rom.623).

The Bible further reveals that: "...SIN IS the TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW." (I John 3:4)

The Bible then explains: "What shall we say then? IS THE LAW SIN? GOD FORBID. Nay, I had not KNOWN SIN, but BY THE LAW: for I had not known LUST, except THE LAW HAD SAID, THOU SHALT NOT COVET." (Rom.7:7)

A study of these [and more] Scriptures reveals that God's Ten Commandments [the Loving Laws of God that DEFINES SIN] EXISTED FROM THE BEGINNING! If indeed "death"... sin's wages began with Adam as the Scriptures say.

The Ten Commandments didn't BEGIN with Moses... they were CODIFIED [recorded, written down] with him -- SO YOU AND I WOULD HAVE THEM TO GUIDE US, TODAY, in these last days of God's Plan, so far removed from that first generation!:

"This is he [Moses], that was in the church in the wilderness with the Angel which spake to him in the Mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the Lively Oracles [the Eternally Living Words of God, the Bible] TO GIVE TO US..." (Acts 7:38) .

God's "guidance" was provided [all of the Laws of God] for man from the beginning... along with the LORD's Sabbath [which He made on the SEVENTH DAY OF CREATION!] The day after He made Adam!

The first two people simply "refused to obey the LORD's Laws," that's all; just like all of mankind has been doing ever since... IN SPITE OF THE GUIDANCE THE LORD HAS PROVIDED FOR ALL THE GENERATIONS OF MAN.

Even Noah was informed about God's "healthy" dietary laws regarding "clean and unclean meats":

"..the LORD said unto Noah... Of every CLEAN BEAST thou shalt take to thee BY SEVENS [not by twos, as the common fable of this world tells it]... and of beasts that ARE NOT CLEAN BY TWO..." (Gen.7:1-2).

The Loving, Righteous, Guiding Laws of God, the transgression of which [our disobedience to] constitutes SIN... were given to Adam and mankind from the beginning. It's the "breaking" of God's Laws is what sin is. And if Adam and Eve SINNED as the Scriptures inform us... then THEY KNEW GOD'S COMMANDMENTS!

And all of their children and succeeding generations KNEW THEM! Because: "...SIN is NOT IMPUTED WHEN THERE IS NO LAW." (Rom.5:13)

"...the LORD [the WORD of God who became Jesus Christ: the Almighty Creator God of the Old Testament - see John 1:1-3] said unto CAIN... 'If thou doest not well, SIN lieth at the door..." (Gen.4:6-7). Sin is the transgression of the Ten Commandments.

"...the LORD [Jesus Christ] said, 'Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because THEIR SIN is VERY GRIEVOUS..." (Gen.18:20) Sin is the transgression of the Ten Commandments.

"Then Abimelech... said... thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a GREAT SIN..." (Gen.20:9). Sin is the transgression of the Ten Commandments.

"...Jacob... said to Laban, 'What is my trespass? What is my SIN,.." (Gen.31:36). Sin is the transgression of the Ten Commandments.

David said to Pharaoh's wife: "...because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and SIN AGAINST GOD?" (Gen.39:9) Sin is the transgression of the Ten Commandments.

Even Righteous, Faithful Abraham, with whom the LORD [Jesus Christ] entered into a covenant relationship knew about SIN. He OBEYED GOD'S LAWS... and has this recorded testimony from Christ:

"...Abraham OBEYED MY VOICE, and kept My charge, MY COMMANDMENTS, My statutes, and My Laws." (Gen.26:5)

That's all God has ever required of His creation, Adam, Eve and ALL of their children -- to OBEY HIS VOICE! To NOT SIN! To NOT DISOBEY HIS LAWS! Because "to obey God's Commandments is to LOVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART... and to LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF!"

From the first generation to the last... the command has been and will always be the same: DON'T SIN! DON'T FAIL TO LOVE ME AND ONE ANOTHER!

Love one another is what man STILL FAILS to do today... IN SPITE OF HAVING GOD'S GUIDING LAWS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. It's no different from Adam and Eve's FAILURE to Love.

God's covenant with the Israelites [Abraham's children] was the same requirement He demanded of Abraham: "Now therefore, IF YE WILL OBEY MY VOICE..." (Gen.19:5).

"IF YE KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, YE SHALL ABIDE IN MY LOVE: even as I have kept My Father's Commandments, and abide in His Love... This is My Commandment, THAT YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER...[Jesus is simply saying what He's always said to His creation: this is My Commandment; that you KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS!] ...AS i HAVE LOVED YOU."

The Bible reveals that God's Laws and His Guidance has been with man from the beginning. God never said to man, "disobey Me." It was the god of this world who coerced man to disobey the LORD's Laws... and to SIN.

How are Mosaic Laws similar to the Ten Commandments?

The ten commandments are part of the Mosaic Law.

The Mosaic Law was given by God, via Moses, specifically to the nation of Israel (Exodus 19; Leviticus 26:46; Romans 9:4).

It was made up of three parts: the Ten Commandments, the ordinances, and the worship system, which included the priesthood, the tabernacle, the offerings, and the festivals (Exodus 20-40; Leviticus 1-7; 23).

How did moses end up growing up in the pharaoh's palace?

The Israelites population was becoming to large. Pharaoh tried to stop the growing population by killing all newborn males. Moses's mom put him in a basket on the Nile. Pharaoh's daughter found Moses and adopted him. He was the adopted son of Pharaoh which means he was a prince so he lived in the palace.

What did Moses grow up to be when he was older?

Mo′ses , who's name means "Drawn Out" or " saved out of water" was born in 1593 B.C.E., in Egypt. A son of Hebrew slaves. His father was Amram, the grandson of Kohath, and the great-grandson of Levi. He was three years younger than his brother Aaron. Miriam their sister was some years older. (Exodus 6:16, 18, 20; 2:7).

Though his childhood is familiar to many, beginning by being 'adopted' into the household of the Pharaoh of Egypt, eventually becoming the second most powerful man in Egypt, he turned his back on this life of privilage. He grew to be a 'Man of the true God', refusing to be "called the son of the daughter of Pharaoh, but choosing to be ill-treated with the people of God rather than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin." (Hebrews 11:24&25) He grew up to be known as a:

*A leader of the nation of Israel, being privileged to institute the Passover. (Exodus 12:1-16)

*Mediator of the Law covenant, Three months after the Exodus from Egypt, God gave Moses the two stone tablets "written on by God's finger," containing "the Ten Commandments, the basic laws of the Law covenant. (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 4:13)

* Writer. (Ezra 3:2) Moses was the writer of the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible, namely, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. His writings are part of Jewish history, this section of the Bible being known by them as the Torah, or Law. Jesus and the Christian writers frequently speak of Moses as giving the Law.

Also a *prophet, *judge, *commander, and *historian.

It was God's purpose to deliver the Hebrews out of Egypt, by the hand of Moses, but Moses needed to undergo another 40 years of training to qualify. The qualities of patience, meekness, humility, long-suffering, mildness of temper, self-control, and learning to wait on God, needed to be developed in him to a higher degree, in order for him to be the fitting one to lead God's people. The lowly occupation of shepherding in Midian served to develop these qualities.

Moses was 120 years of age at the time of his death. (Deuteronomy 34:5-7)

Where does the Bible say that Moses wrote the Book of Exodus?

A:The Bible does not directly say that Moses wrote the Book of Exodus, but there are passages that, if interpreted appropriately, could be said to point towards Mosaic authorship. One of these is Exodus 17:14, which speaks of recording a specific event but mentions a 'book': "And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." More compelling are the many other clues in the Bible that Moses could not have written the Book of Exodus, not least of which is that the book is written in the third person.

While it would be easy for an anonymous author to write into his book references to Moses himself writing that book, the author is less likely to realise that he has left clues to the contrary. In fact, modern scholars say that the Book of Exodus is a composite work, with most of the material actually written by two anonymous authors now known as the Yahwist and the Elohist, who lived during the tenth and ninth centuries BCE.

What did Moses do for freedom?

Moses gave up his place as a son of the Pharoah and left Egypt, and after being commanded to free his people in an encounter with the 'burning bush' returned to demand that the Pharoah 'let his people go'. He continued to demand this freedom, and each refusal was met with continued plagues given by God until Pharoah finally relented- according to the Old Testament Biblical account (or the 'Torah') Moses lead his people out of Egypt, being lead by God to part the Red Sea. Moses gave up his position as a member of the royal family of Egypt, and returning to face what might seem like certain death to demand his nation's freedom from perhaps the most powerful empire in the ancient world at that time. This is what Moses did for freedom.

First of all, Moses only saved his people with the help of God. God performed the ten plagues which finally persuaded Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave. But the Egyptians came after them.
