How do you jump on a mountain bike with no ramp?

There are two ways to bunnyhop a bicycle: # Start by pulling a wheelie, then push handlebar forward while simultaneously unloading your feet. That should bring the rear wheel up too. # (works best with clipless pedals) stand up, push down on the pedals to compress the tires. At max compression launch yourself upwards while still holding on to the bike. As the tires bounce back you'll get some help in pulling the bike with you into the air.

Is it likely that a bmx chainring will fit on a road bike?

No.

Some BMX chainrings have the same 4/5 bolt pattern as road bikes, but most use another method of attachment to the crank.

If it is a 4/5 bolt chainring you first have to measure the bolt circle diameter to see how that fits. I'll post a link on that.

Next is the thickness of the chain rings. BMXes are single-speed and use a thicker chain. Most road bikes have external gears and need a thinner, more flexible chain to work. I'm not sure if a road bike chain will fit on a BMX chainring.

(Unless it's a single-speed road bike of course. Then you can run a BMX-style chain and all can be made to work.)

Depends on how you intend to ride it. A streeet bike is meant to be used as a kind of overgrown BMX, with tricks and jumps, it's not really meant to be going places. A MTB, specially one intended for XC(cross-country) use is much better suited for actually covering any kind of distances on it.

How much is a talera gt mountain bike in the US?

I have had a GT Talera 21 speed for the last 10 years. My dad bought it for me from my uncle when I was around 14 years old & I am still riding it at 25. I remember he bought it for around $250, when at the time it was only 2 years old & barely used. I have thought about listing it on Craigslist & 11 years later I am guessing I could still get $75 to $100 for it as I have taken excellent care of it. Hope that helps!

How do you convert mountain bike into dirt jumper?

If you have a larger bike, as in a bike that is slightly large for you as an xc rider, it is probably not wise to do this conversion.

However, if you have a bike that is slightly on the smaller side for your size range, go for it!

Snappiness and quick handling are at the forefront of this conversion, this will help your maneuverability in tight spots. To do this you will likely need a shorter stem 45-60mm and a bar with between 1-2 inches of rise. In addition to the steering impact of this modification this will also keep you over the center of the bike, keeping you from going over the bars on a sketchy landing.

Next, is drivetrain modifications, here simpler is better. Since you will be enduring big hits, chain-line tightness is of the most importance. Explore chain tensioning options, if keeping gears a front mounted crank tensioner will be best. You will also want to go with a single ring in the front, a 34-36t. This will also likely require a guide to keep your chain form dropping, there are many guide and tensioner combos available.

The final item of importance is tires. This is entirely dependent on the conditions of your regular jumps. If loose/wet go with knobs, if hard packed go with smooth low profile. Here typical rule of thumb is go wider, it will give you more balance and stability on takeoff and landing.

After making these easy modifications, just lower your saddle and have fun!

Hope this was helpful.
