Who began the feud between Neil Young and lynrd skynrd 'southern man keep your head'?

User Avatar
In reality the "feud" was only a few lines in a coupla songs. Both artist had great respect for each other and the music each made. Ronnie and Neil were friends. Ronnie was the type of man that if he did not like somone they knew it and his admiration for Neil is well recorded. But if there ever was a real fued, and I agree Ronnie and Neil were very good friends, it would either be Neil for writing the line, or Ronnie for complaining...

Is 'Sweet Home Alabama' a politically motivated song?

User Avatar
Sweet Home Alabama "Sweet Home Alabama" was, as the story goes, Lynyrd Skynyrd's response to (the Canadian) Neil Young's song, "Southern Man," which was about racism in the south during the Reconstruction Era. Allegedly, Neil Young was inspired to write this song during a trip to Alabama, where he got beat up in a bar because he had long hair. What about the lyric"well in Birmingham they love the gov'nar" in the Song. The governor of that city during the time the song came out was very rascist.

Is Neil Young a native American Indian?

User Avatar
: Certainly answering Neil Young is an 'American' or 'Canadian' doesn't really answer this question. : : In Jimmy McDonough's Neil Young biography Shakey there is no mention of Young's father or mother being Native American Indians. His mother was born in the U.S.A. and his father was born in Canada into what certainly sounds like non-Indian households. As well Neil was born in Canada to a non-Native household, from the story depicted in the biography. : Still Young's music and appearance do invite the Native American notion -- given with Neil Young there seems to be quite a bit of Amerindian identification going on in his lyrics, song titles and even in how he dresses. As McDonough mentions he was called the 'Indian in the group' by some of the former members of Buffalo Springfield. As well his use of a high pitched voice seems at times to echo the range used in some traditional plains Indian chant. : : Many Americans and Canadians with either Indians, trappers or mountain men in their family tree claim some range of biological, linguistic, cultural or historical heritage [ALSO SEE Metis] in common with the American Indians. : WIth Young its hard to say though if any of this heritage is part of Neil Young's background or not. Mostly with him American Indian heritage seems to part of an adopted identity and a choice of inspirations, although it would be interesting to hear or read of anything that might clarify otherwise. : Or perhaps like they say in Chile and Argentina shake a family tree and see who falls out...

If a 17-year-old impregnates a 14-year-old and the parents plan to press charges will the young man definitely go to prison?

User Avatar
No. No one can predict the outcome of such a case, regardless of what that person might claim. There is no way to determine if the young man would be charged with a crime because the parents file a compliant. Such a determination is made by the prosecutor's office based on the facts of the individual case. If the young man is charged and prosecuted, there is no way to determine if the will be found guilty of the charges (unless he voluntarily enters a plea) or if found guilty what sentencing will be imposed. Contrary to the majority of opinions, charges of statutory rape, sexual misconduct, etc. are not automatic nor are they always pursued. Generally felony criminal charges will be brought if the older of the party's is a legal adult, if the younger person is very young, (under 12), extenuating factors, alchohol, drugs (ectasy, etc) and so forth. What usually happens in such a case if the DA pursues action, is the older minor is allowed to plea to a lesser charge and unless he or she has a prior history of problems with authorities, disciplinary issues, etc. will receive probation.
