To me, the sequel, Nerf N-Strike Elite is better. Here's why:
Nerf N-Strike (6/10):
You can not find this in any stores except GameStop and other Gaming stores. It's older and the Switch Shot including sucks if you are planning to use it in actual Nerf Battles. But, the game is fun and you will have fun with it. It's a 50/50!

Nerf N-Strike Elite (9/10):
Great game for children and very fun for adults as well! Unlike the first version, the Switch Shot EX-3 is better than the Raider in actual Nerf battles! It's my best gun! The graphics are even better than the first one! It's a sequel to the first game, and there's a surprise ending after finishing the game. Boring after you unlock everything though.

If you refer to the Orange double sided bolt, then you can use a hammer to pry it apart. This action is sometimes not reverseable, but fear not modder, because you can reattach it my pouring glue down the hole on the orange bolt piece and stick in the metal rod again.
If you refer to the internal cocking mechanism, then you can remove it by unscrewing the back orange piece that is round that holds the spring compressed.

you must have a distraction with a powerful gun (Vulcan, raider), a sniper (longshot, longstrike) that sneaks behind enemy lines, and two people with normal guns (firefly, maverick, recon, deploy) and once that's done if there's anyone left alive start the n force weapons( thunder fury, shadow fury, marauder, warlock) and move in to massacre everyone. Then you can claim BRAGGING RIGHTS!

In my opinion, I think hailfire is the best nerf gun. It can hold up to 144 darts. But, there are guns which are almost as strong as the hailfire. They are the stampede and the vulcan.

The Magstrike has been discontinued due to the lack of shelf space and declining sales. There is some chance, however that the new Quest stores opening in the UK will carry it some time in the future, because the entire store is dedicated to Nerf.
