Since I have a woman owned, non-profit for handicapped children, they painted a beautiful picture of easy success in getting funding. We agreed upon the $2,000 upfront and $2,000 once we received funding. In month 5, I got a call about a potential $250K grant, but we were lacking a business plan. They offered to write it for $7,200. Today I got a call with a potential $150K 'carrot'. The caller said he was with Capital Business Services. This one costs $5,800 for the lacking documents. I talked with 2 local grant writing services in town to find out what 'Supplemental Documentation' might consist of. They were guessing it might be a 'Strategic Plan' but not sure. One of them went to www.complaintsboard.com and found many complaints about Delta. Many people in the same situation as I am describing. Always offering services beyond the initial agreement.....always with an attractive carrot hanging out there.....always additional money required to finalize a grant.
I found I could have a local writer do this paperwork for much less. So I left a message for Capital Business Services to call me back. While I was waiting, I googled the business name and went onto their web site to see all of what they do and don't do. When I mentioned I had done this to the rep, his voice changed. You know the nervous trill like he had just been goosed!
Delta's promise was to get us funding by Dec 31. Just 28 days to go. But of course it's not going to happen now, since I can NOT come up with an additional up-front $5,800 for the mystery document. These next few weeks should be interesting. How many more calls should I expect..... down to the wire.

Why did the Carson City mint close?
Minting continued more or less steadily until the spring of 1893. All this time, however, the production of the Nevada mines was falling off, and the price of silver bullion continued to experience a serious decline. The Carson City Mint, which had been plagued by reports of corruption, some fanciful and others valid, was now reviewed as an expensive and dispensable frill. On June 1, 1893 acting Mint Director Robert E. Preston ordered coining operations to cease, though the mint would continue to function as a federal assay office.
Nevadans assumed that this action, too, would ultimately be reversed. The likelihood of a resumption of coining was dealt a deathblow in 1895 when it was proved beyond a doubt that several employees, in conjunction with a number of prominent community figures, were systematically pilfering bullion from the mint.
