A Gameboy Advance SP cannot link up with a Nintendo DS. The GBA SP has a link cabe wich only plugs into another SP, a GBA or a GBC. It cannot link up with the DS as the plug is a different shape and cannot fit into the DS. While some games on the GBA SP come with a wireless adaptor (like Pokemon FireRed), this cannot link up with the DS, either. For some reason, when you put a wireless-compatible game in the DS and chose to initiate the wireless function, the DS does not do it. It simmply states that there is no connection to the adaptor, so it cannot work. It seems that the only way the DS is compatible with the GBA SP is through the second slot in the DS which fits GBA games. Only some BA games can connect with the DS games in the first slot, though.

you can't because it they don't work there is a possible that a wire was pulled and no long is a connected to the other button. but if that's now the case on the back there is writing and in that writing there is a number you can call that number and they will repair it for you for like $50-$60 or you can just go on and get a DS lite or DSI

Jirachi is being given out by Nintendo through Wi-Fi on the DS, but I don't think it works with Emerald/Sapphire/Ruby. It was meant for the Generation IV games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum).

Otherwise, try and find an e-Reader. They can download a Jirachi onto your game cartridge. Sometimes game shops will use e-Readers as a promotional items, so you can obtain them there...But the margin's slight, and Jirachi is probably THE hardest Pokemon to aquire in the entire Pokemon universe.
