Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is a vessel describes in Genesis chapters 6-9 of the Hebrew Bible. In the story, God instructs a man named Noah to build an ark to providing a save-haven for Noah, his family, and all species of animals. Once Noah and his fellow travelers are aboard the ark, God enacts a massive flood, destroying all other living things on the planet. The inhabitants of the ark go on to repopulate the world after the great flood.

How long was the Earth flooded during Noah's Flood?

According to Genesis, it rained for forty days and forty nights. The Flood lasted for one year, long enough to kill every species and subspecies of animal on earth. It was also long enough to wipe out almost every species of plants, including trees, but the ancients did not realise this and Noah did not worry about collecting the millions of seeds and spores he would need to revegetate the earth. ;

What are facts about Noahs ark?

God said to Noah that he would destroy the earth by a great flood because of mankind's sinfulness. Noah was to build an ark (boat) to carry his family and 2 of every kind of animal. It rained 40 days and 40 nights, after which Noah sent a bird out to check for dry land. The ark finally landed on what the Old Testament calls Mount Ararat, which may or may not be the Mount Ararat we know today. Noah's Ark was really a place of safety for Noah and his immediate family, and the animals that he had aboard. Its necessity revealed the terrible depravity and violence to which mankind had degenerated as well as the mercy of God in providing a way of escape, which was available to all, but sadly, only a few people chose to go. Biblical Christians consider the ark a symbol of Christ, as faith in Him is our safety from destruction due to sin.

Many questions have been raised about all sorts of things regarding this boat. If close attention is paid to what the Bible does and does not say in the whole account in Genesis 6 - 9, then the story is actually feasible. For example, the Bible does not say the animals were to be full grown. Most would have been young, or even eggs. The Bible says each after its "kind;" for example, "canine kind" would have been the forerunners of wolves and dogs. This is differentiation, not macro-evolution, by the way. According to Genesis the ark would have been about half as big as the Queen Mary. Thus there would have been room enough for all the kinds and the food to sustain them.

How many doves were in Noahs ark?

In the book of Genesis, 8th Chapter, Noah send out a bird on three separate occasions to see if the water had abated from off the earth. The first and second times were doves while the third was a raven.

Were there any polar bears on Noahs ark?

The book of Genesis didn't say whether or not polar bears [Ursus maritimus] were included on the ark. It just made a general reference to at least one female and one male each of every breathing, living species.

The oldest polar bear fossil is no more than 100,000 years old. There's evidence of a worldwide flood sometime between 4000 B.C.E. and 2800 B.C.E. So polar bears may have been included on the ark if indeed every breathing, living species was represented on board.

Did Noah and his family repopulate the earth?

Noah's wife, and his sons and their wives were also on the ark. They would have had children (bearing in mind that the lifespans were longer then), grandchildren and so on... Studies have been done that show it is quite possible to have the population we have in the world today in the time since Noah lived.

Answer 2

Let's be mathematical. Say for instance a generation were to double the population, so that 2 parents had 4 children. If there's a generation every 20 years, that would give time for 200 generations in 4000 years. The current world population is some 7 billion. 2 to the 33rd power is well over 8 billion, so he would really have needed only 33 of the potentially 200 generations of his descendants doubling the population; so it's certainly feasible. .

According to the Bible what substance was used to caulk Noah's ark?

Tar or bitumen(Genesis 6:14), of which there was plenty(Genesis 14:10) (Exodus 2:3)

What city was noah who built the ark born?

The Bible does not exactly say. But according to the Bible Noah supposedly built the ark in Suroppak, which was 520 miles away from Mount Ararat, which is where Noah lived with his wife until her death after the flood.

Was Noah and the great flood real?

No. The flood described in the Bible is allegorical, meant to illustrate moral lessons rather than to depict some actual event.

Another Answer:

Yes, Jesus Himself, confirmed it to be an actual event:

Matthew 24:38-39New King James Version (NKJV)

38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

What substance was use to caulk the Ark and Moses' basket?

A combination of tar and pitch were used the caulk the papyrus basket he lay in. He was then set afloat among the reeds and was found by the Pharaoh's daughter. When his sister sees the Pharaoh's daughter taking the basket, she inquires if she needs a wet nurse. Upon her agreement, she takes Moses to his birth mother and she becomes his wet nurse.

How many animals did Noah saved from the flood?

A:Genesis 6:19 says that God told Noah to take two of every living, while 7:2 says to take seven of every clean thing and two of every unclean thing, and then 7:5 says that Noah did as God told him. So, one way or the other, he took every animal on the Ark.

He did not take the unicorn onto the Ark, but the unicorn belongs to an entirely different legend and we should not concern with it in relation to Noah's Ark.

Why would god send unclean animals onto the ark?

Just because certain animals were unfit for human consumption did not mean that those animals did not deserve to live.

How many feet and meters was Noah's ark?

According to Dr. Max D. Younce, who says by his calculations from Genesis 6:15 that the ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet deep. He says this is equivalent to "522 standard stock cars or 8 freight trains of 65 cars each." By some divine calculation he figures that all the insect species and the worms could fit in 21 box cars. No divine calculations needed. The measurements are based on the cubit and there is some discussion over which cubit Noah used. The shortest ancient cubit was 445 millimetres which gives an ark of 433 feet. The longer Royal Cubit (the longest known ancient cubit) at 524 mm would give an ark of 488 feet.
Hope this helps.

How many pairs of clean animals did God tell Noah to put in the ark?

A:There are two very different biblical accounts of how many clean animals went onto Noah's Ark. In Genesis 6:19-20, Noah is told to take two of every animal (not two pairs) onto the Ark, clean or unclean, but in Genesis 7:1 he is told to take two of every unclean animal and seven pairs (the male and his female) of every clean animal.

The reason for this surprising find is that there are actually two stories of Noah's Ark in the Bible, written by two different authors and cleverly interleaved so that the result appears to be just one, rather complicated story. In the same way as there are two answers to this question, we can also find that one story has the flood subsiding in just forty days, while the other says that it lasted one year.

We do not know the names of the two different authors of the biblical stories of Noah, and they are now called the Priestly Source and the Yahwist:

· The Flood verses attributed to the Priestly author are: Genesis 6:9-22, 7:6, 7:8-9, 7:11, 7:13-16a, 7:18-21, 7:24, 8:1-2a, 8:3b-5, 8:7, 8:13a, 8:14-19, 9:1-17.

· The verses attributed to the Yahwist are: Genesis 6:5-8, 7:1-5, 7:7, 7:10, 7:12, 7:16b-17, 7:22-23, 8:2b-3a, 8:6, 8:8-12, 8:13b, 8:20-22.

How many people were on earth before noah ark flood?

This depends very much on a number of variables which need to be clarified in order to understand the conclusion reached. It must also be remembered that it never was the intention of any Biblical author to satisfy the modern thirst for detailed information and statistics. However, using various assumptions an answer can be arrived at which must be seen for what it is - our best estimate based on available information. Others may come up with different estimates based on other assumptions. The assumptions used to come up with the figure below all take the Bible to be an accurate record of the events it describes - although of course not at all directly addressing the question we here have in hand.

The first of these is the acceptance that the flood was worldwide. This is made clear by the Biblical record repeatedly.

Secondly is the time frame from creation to the flood. A number of figures are available on this - even people like Newton and Keppler did their calculations and came up with similar time periods. The best known calculation is of course Ussher's time of 1656 years.

Thirdly, the rate of reproduction - using conservative figures of population growth based on the information provided in the Biblical record, then the figure arrived at would be around 7 Billion people.

How many doors and windows were on the ark?

the ark had a total of 40 windows and 1 door on the ark

Where did Noah's ark land in the bible?

According to Genesis 8:4 the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat on the 17th day of the 7th month. Rather confusingly, in Genesis 8:5 it says the tops of the mountains only started to appear after 10 months. Ignoring that, the question becomes where are the "mountains of Ararat"? Abrahamic tradition says this is Mount Ararat in Turkey. Josephus, the Jewish historian, places the Ark on an Armenian mountain - which doesn't exclude Mount Ararat. The ancient Jewish Book of Jubilees specifies mount Lubar in the mountains of Ararat.

How many pairs of birds were on noah's ark?

A:The Avibase database contains records about 10,000 species and 22,000 subspecies of birds in the world. Some birds have become extinct in recent centuries, while many in remote areas have not yey been catalogued. If we regard the story of Noah's Ark as literally true, there must have been over 80,000 birds representing over 40,000 species and subspecies. They range from the ostrich and the even larger, extinct moa down to the smallest finches.

What was the second bird noah released from the ark?

Noah first sent out a raven, and it just flew back and forth. Noah then sent out a dove, which returned to the ark, and he waited seven days. Noah then sent out the dove again, and it returned with an olive branch. He waited seven more days, and sent out the dove again, and this time, it did not return.

From which son of Noah are the Asian people descended?

According to one source by Paul Phelps, the East Asians were descendants of Joktan, who was the son of Eber, the father of all Hebrews, and ultimately was a descendant of Shem, the son of Noah. According to another source by E. L. Martin, however, the East Asians are actually descendants of Japheth. Shem is usually looked upon as having "brown/yellow skin" while Japheth as, "fair/light skin". Overall, It is uncertain which sons of Noah was the forefather of the Eastern Asians (the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc.), their origin is obscured, but it could have been either Shem or Japheth, in a biblical point of view.

As for the South Asians like India and Middle Easterns, they are most likely descendants of Shem, according to George Hamartolos and Symeon the Metaphrast in Wikipedia. Furthermore, according to Isidore of Seville (ca. 600) and Hippolytus of Rome (c. 234), the Indians are actually the ones descendant of Joktan, son of Eber and descendant of Shem. This is all proposing the origins of the ancient Indians and Middle Easterns, but perhaps they of today are different and mixed.

The most important thing, in any comparison between the Titanic and Noah's Ark, is that the Titanic really did exist. Were there no rainbows before Noah's Deluge Genesis 9 v9 to 13?

The answer is Correct, no one had ever seen a Rainbow (in the sky or on the face of the earth) before the rain stopped (after 1 year and 10 days) and the first Rainbow appeared before Noah. There could not have been. This is a very, very important study. More than most folks could begin to know. If someone could find out how the earth could exists without a rainbow, they would then have the answer to so many questions about evolution itself.
