In feet what was the size of the ark of the covenant?

According to the Torah, the Ark was 2.5 cubits long and 1.5 cubits in both width and height. If we assume that "cubit" refers to the Egyptian Cubit (the Hebrews were fleeing from Egypt where they had spent many years in slavery - so it's a safe bet that the measurements are indeed given in Egyptian Cubits) this would be about 1.30metres long and 0.78metres wide and high (which is about four feet and three inches by two feet and eight inches).

How many of each animal ambled into noah' s ark according to the biblical account?

2 of every unclean (according to Jewish law) and 7 of every clean animal.

Genesis 7:2 states: "Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate"

What was the first animal to go on Noah's ark?

  • For every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate.
  • For every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate.
  • Seven of every kind of bird (or perhaps seven pairs depending on translation).

God is not a punishing God. there are many reasons from the Bible to prove and support this fact.

2.God is excellent in wisdom (Job 12:13, Romans 11:33, 1 Corinthians 2:7) God is a God of wisdom and understanding.

3.God is just and exercises justice (Deuteronomy 32:4, psalms 37:28) he is loyal and will not leave his righteous servants.

Ezekiel 33:10-19, pay close attention to verse 11, it shows that Jehovah does not delight in the death of the wicked but that if he will actually turn back from his wicked ways so to keep living.

Jehovah want humans to obey him and keep living, he is a merciful and forgiving God but he will not give exemption from punishment those who continue to disobey him. A good example was the case of Eli 's children in 1samuel 3:14.(please read)

This is from a Bible dictionary:

The ordinary unit of length among the Hebrews; originally the distance from the elbow to the tip of the fingers. It varied in length, from 17 1/2 inches in the 8th century BC. to 21 1/2 inches in time of our Lord.

Was Noah's ark built from pine wood olive wood maple wood or gopher wood?

According to the Bible, God told Noah to make an ark out of 'gopher' wood, a wood entirely unknown to scholars today. Based on the etymology of the word and the widespread use of reed boats in very early times, some scholars say that gopher wood meant reeds. It has been noted that boats made of reeds were quite seaworthy and could not be engulfed by the waves. Of course, this assumes that the biblical story of Noah's Ark was based on much earlier legends originating at a time before timber construction became normal.

Did Noah take two of every race of people aboard the ark?

The ark was very large. You have to remember he had two of every animal (except a certain few) but not each breed so one breed of dog, one breed of cat and so forth. Obviously he didn't bring aquatic animals because that would have been unneccessary so that frees up a lot of space. If you want to learn more I believe they have a Noah's Ark exhibit with a lifesize ark to give you an idea of how large it really was.

Who came first Noah's ark or Sodom and Gomorrah?

Noah's ark (Gen 6) happened many years before the tower of Babel (Gen 11). Gen 11 discusses the flood as a past event. In the Tower of Babel narrative God does not destroy the tower nor the people but alters people's language so they cannot understand each other.

Is Egyptian culture the oldest culture?

No, Egyptian culture isn't the oldest culture. In fact, Judaism is the oldest one. Jews have been around for thousands of years. Remember Noah's Ark, when Noah and his family were the only survivors? Well, Noah and his family were Jewish.

Could Noah's Ark hold all species of animals?

Yes. The ark was an unusually large ship. This statement "And there are literally millions of land animal species in the world. " by the above author is not true. There are about 21,100 land species in the world. The ark was plenty big enough to hold them all with room left over.

Genesis 6:15 (KJV) And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

Genesis 6:16 (KJV) A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

The dimensions were:

length 300 cubits

breadth 50 cubits

height 30 cubits

and the ship was 3 stories tall.

A cubit is 18 inches. So, to put the dimensions into modern measurements we would have

450 feet long (that is 150 feet longer than a football field!)

75 feet wide

45 feet tall

That gives a volume of 1,518,750 feet^3.

That gives plenty of room for all of the non-water dwelling animals to be on board with sufficient food for all and even room left over for many other people to be on board as well.

The average size of an animal is that of a sheep so only about 36% of the ark was used for animals if the figure of 50,000 is used. However, was probably more like 16,000 animals that were present on the ark. That would only be 12% of the ark used for animals. If the ark was totally full then it would hold 138,888 animals.

Baby animals that would grow up to populate the world after the flood were more likely what was on board the ark.

The global flood of Noah's day points to the judgement of God on evil men. As the world was destroyed in the past by a flood because of man's wickedness so too it could be destroyed in the future because of man's wickedness.

Why didnt Noah catch many fish during the voyage on the ark?

Since the Bible does not address this question, the only way to answer it is the way a scientist would if he or she believed that the story of Noah's Ark really happened.

According to the Book of Genesis, the whole world, land and sea, was covered by several kilometres of water. Without canvassing where all this water came from, this has several serious consequences for the survival of fish.

First of all, it seems as if salt-water and fresh water must have mixed in somewhat equal proportions. The ocean waters would have been diluted with so much fresh water that salt-water fish would have died. The fresh water would have been poisoned by so much salt water that fresh-water fish would have died. For these reasons alone, there may have been no fish to catch.

Fish have to eat, just like land animals. There are bottom-feeders in relatively shallow waters; there are fish that rely on sea-weed, again in shallow waters; there are fish that find their nutrients in the run-off from rivers: these would have all been exterminated. Sharks and carnivorous fish that feed off other surface fish would die of starvation, as there would be no prey.

In all, the waters of the world would have quickly become a barren desert with no fish for Noah to catch.

Which mountain did God say to Noah where to build the Ark on?

Ararat was the name of the mountain range on which Noah's ark settled. The book of Genesis indicated that the ark settled on one mountain in the range [8:4]. But it didn't indicate any name or description that would have helped specified the ark's final resting place.

Who was on the ark that Noah built?

Noah built the ark. He was told by God that there was so much evil in the world that he was going to send a flood. A flood to clear out of all those who weren't living in peace and were doing wrong. Noah, One of god chosen people.

What was the worlds population when Noah built the ark?

We don't know. However, based upon human remains and archaeology, there wasn't a vast number of people. Probably several million. See also:

How long did Noah wait after building the ark for the flood to come?

Has Noah's Ark been discovered?

Yes, Noah's ark existed. But it undoubtedly would have rotted away after the great flood. The ark was made of cypress wood. So the ark's materials ultimately would have decayed and returned to nature. At the minimum, the ark's bottom would have been exposed to heavy doses of moisture.

How old was Noah when God flooded earth?

There is no scriptural evidence to say how old the earth was at the time of the flood. The term (Day) in the Lords time is said to be 1000 years in our time. This is no basis to lay claim that the earth was so many years old at the time of the flood. No one really knows how old the earth is. Even carbon dating is not sure fire method of giving a satisfactory answer. The word Day is an unknown period of time.

What day did Noah land the ark?

In Genesis 8:4 we read, 'And the ark rested in the 7th month, on the 17th day of the month, upon the mountains of Arafat.

Please note this was an ark and not a boat, ship or even raft with oars so there were no movement controls. The ark settled when/where/how God chose for it to settle. Plain and simple. :)

What year was Adam created?

This can't be answered with any degree of accuracy.

Some will say 4000 BCE, determined by following biblical genealogies. Some might say 90,000 BCE, the oldest known homosapien fossils . Other will cite a DNA analysis that indicates 150, 000 BCE, and still others will tell you that Adam wasn't created that he evolved from a prehistoric hominid, or even that he never existed.

What is the story of Noah in the ark?

Although many different interpretations are put on the story of Noah's Ark it is clear from the writing itself that it is intended to be a historical narrative of an actual historical event. There are a number of references to specific time 'anchors' such as how old Noah was at the various stages of events. The events are also told with little embellishment or exaggeration (which is indeed difficult, given the magnitude of the events recorded), which is a standard hallmark of myths or legends, some of which have arisen from other attempts to re-write the flood record from a different perspective.

It is also clear from references made to Noah elsewhere in the Bible, that it is regarded as a specific historical event.

Further to this, the geologic record has abundant evidence of the 'mabul', the specific Hebrew word for this flood (as distinct from other smaller local floods, though themselves destructive). The geologic record thus points back to the clear intention of the author of the original Hebrew account, which was to give a historic narrative of this actual event.

The account of Noah's Ark, since it has a theme of divine judgment, is also regarded as a 'type' or 'figure' or 'picture' of the coming judgment by fire spoken of in a number of places in the New Testament. The obvious point here is that just as the coming judgment is to be a real and actual judgment so was the judgment on the wicked world in Noah's day.

There are a number of problems presented by the assertion that the account of Noah is to be regarded as a historical narrative. None of these is unsolvable, and in any case, the question relates to the type of story written. Thus any assumption that such an event didn't or could not happen must not be read back into the intention of the author. Even though the event comes down to us today through the passage of millennia (around 4500 Years), with the actual final written form being about 3500 years old, this does not diminish the original intent or purpose which was to give an account of an actual event.

What was used to seal Noah's Ark from moisture?

Pitch was used to caulk Noah's ark, according to Genesis 6:14. Noah was told to use good timber in the building of the ark. Everything was to covered with pitch inside and out. Such meticulous attention to the caulking would have protected the ark from water leaking or pooling.
