Not a physician here, just a Nuvaring user for 3+ years. I would say yes, put it in the week After you SHOULD have gotten your period, just to keep your body on the same schedule. I once skipped a month of having the Nuvaring in, thinking I' could start again once I got my period, but I ended waiting two months for my next period and by then my body was all out of whack because the hormone cycle was broken. If you put the ring in when you normally would, after the week you should have gotten your period, you'll just skip your period that month, maybe with some spotting, but your body will still be on the same cycle.

Hi! Be calm. Actually the ring has estrogen in it, so the estrogen itself can make you nauseous. Were you feeling nauseous before the 4th week? The intensity of your period can change with birth control, so don't worry about it being heavy. Plus, you shouldn't get your period if you're pregnant. Btw, just in case this is your first month using the ring: the ring is only effective starting after your seventh day using it. (For more questions, your doctor can explain to you in easier language than the package insert how to use the ring.) I always use a condom though for extra assurance. I believe it could be possible, because for the first month of a new contraceptive you're susceptible to pregnancy. Continue to use condoms until you've been on your birth control for a month.
