The purpose of this Health and Safety Plan (HASP) is to assign responsibilities, establish personnel protections standards, specify safe operating procedures, and to provide for contingencies that may arise.

OSHA does not issue specific requirements at this level of detail. They merely require that, where safety-toe shoes are needed, shoes be used that comply with the ANSI standard on safety-toe shoes.

I am learning about OSHA in my college courses and as far as I can tell, they are not allowed to make surprise inspections. They must be scheduled with the head of the organization ahead of time.

The number of visits to a doctor is not relevant. If an injury requires treatment beyond that of first aid, it is recordable if the circumstances meet the other criteria for recordability.

Construction activity is regulated by OSHA under 29CFR1926.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) is the UK's national standards organization. It develops and publishes standards that cover a wide range of industries and sectors, including technical specifications, guidelines, and codes of practice. These standards ensure consistency, safety, and quality in products, services, and processes, and help improve efficiency and interoperability across different sectors.

OSHA does not have guidelines on how much weight one person can lift. However the lifting guidelines from NIOSH suggest a maximum of about 40 pounds.

There are a number of steps one must take to get OSHA certification. One can apply online at the OSHA Educations Center for the 30 hour training course in either construction or general industry. One must pay $159 and have a credit card or Paypal then fill out the online form.

Federal OSHA has complete jurisdiction in Georgia, there is not Georgia State Plan.

Only work-related injuries and illnesses that meet OSHA criteria are recordable. Bullying at work is a practice, not an injury or illness, so it is not recordable. However, injuries or illnesses may result from bullying and those could be recordable. They have, however, adopted an anti bullying policy for the workers. The policy is contained in a 278-page document, the OSHA Field Health and Safety Manual, which was released on May 23, 2011. The manual outlines safety practices for OSHA's field offices. It was drafted in cooperation with the National Council of Field Labor Locals, a union that represents OSHA workers. OSHA's workplace bullying policy is significant because the General Duty Clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 requires employers to "furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees … ." However, OSHA has not enforced that provision with respect to workplace bullying, despite overwhelming research that workplace bullying may cause severe damages to a target's mental and physical health.

The answer you are looking for may or may not be answered by OSHA regulations. Check into your state's department of health and human services first. It is most likely that OSHA will stipulate a minimum requirement while the state in which you reside may set the bar a little bit higher. I work at a pool in Illinois, and I believe the maximum amount of time a lifeguard can do outdoor lifeguarding between breaks is 3 hours, with at least a 15-minute break in between. My employer usually keeps it around 2 hours on/ 30-minutes off.

The Willliams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 established the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the Department of Labor, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the then Department of health, Education, and Welfare, and it established the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission to review appeals to OSHA citations.

The Act established the process for setting occupational safety and health exposure standards, authorized OSHA to inspect private businesses for compliance and to issue citations and fines when appropriate, and established that a citation could be appealed to the Review Omission before going to the courts.

The length OSHA safety training course depends on which course you take. There is a course that takes 30 hours, and there is also a course that takes 10 hours, hazwoper certification programs take 8, 24 and 40 hour for the training. It maybe different if you are going to get the training through traditional training centers or getting an instructor to give you an onsite training (and it may last longer). Some people likes online training program as those courses designed for 10 hours, they can take it faster. Usually they are all self paced.

In general, you measure from the feet if the worker is standing. However, if using a fall arrest system, such as a body harness and lanyard, and the anchor point is below the spot of the body where the lanyard attaches to the work, you should ADD that distance to your fall calculation. Example- you have a 6 ft lanyard, but are tied off to an anchor at your feet. Lanyard attaches to D ring between shoulders- total fall will be at least 10 ft- 6 ft of lanyard, plus 4 feet of slack (feet to shoulder blades).

The administration of emergency oxygen is a medical procedure and thus not subject to OSHA. Emergency oxygen should be administered only by or under the direct supervision of a medical professional such as a physician, physician's assistant, or an adequately trained nurse.

OSHA Guidelines do permit emergency Oxygen to be given from a tank marked so in Red letters and a flow device of not less than 6 lpm flow into a simple mask. Also, training certification must be acquired via a class such as an American Safety and Health Institute Emergency Oxygen Administration Course.
