Olympics Short Track Speed Skating

Alanna Handley is an Australian speed skater who gained recognition for her performances in international competitions. While she has competed at high levels, there are currently no records of her winning an Olympic medal. Her accomplishments in the sport have contributed to the growth of speed skating in Australia, but as of my last update in October 2023, she has not secured an Olympic podium finish.

Susan Auch began speed skating at the age of 12. She quickly developed her skills and went on to represent Canada in international competitions, ultimately becoming a prominent athlete in the sport. Her dedication and talent led to significant achievements, including multiple Olympic medals.

If it's not you Youtube, than you might try going to your city's library and going to the video section and see what they have on Speed Skating. Otherwise I don't know what you should do.

nope. But there are different levels of coaches, level 5 is the highest. Clubs will obviously pick a higher level coach over someone without any level, just another person

You'd actually be surprised how often this happens. I'm an alumni of the University of Delaware (1-AA), and for the second time in 4 years Delaware has defeated a division 1-A opponent (Navy, 2003 & 2007). There are a lot of 1-A programs that are absolutely terrible and play in terrible. When you take into account 2 of the marquee 1-AA over 1-A victories this year (Appalachian over Mich. and ND State over Minn.) you have 3 this year alone, and this is only what I know of off the top of my head, there is possibly more this season.

There is no uniform, however in short track speed skating you cannot have any skin showing besides your face. In long track you only have to wear skates.

It is so popular in Dutch because it has been around there for so long. It also just took off as a popular sport, just the same as Canada and Hockey. Therefore there are more people skating, more competition... and therfore create better skaters that dominate the world cercuit.

The finger tips of the left hand of a short track speed skaters glove is usually metal, plastic or a material named epoxy. This is because when they turn, they are trying to skate the fastest track pattern. The track pattern varies depending on the skaters position in the race and whether they want to make a pass. Becuase of the high speed and tight corner, a pivot may be needed to maintain the desired track pattern. There fore they put down their left hand (made possible by the natural lean of the skater) so that they can stay a little longer on their right (outside) foot to ensure they stay tight to the apex block (top puck on the corner) which they must skate past with their right foot for any track pattern. The tip has less resistance making it so that the skaters don't lose speed during a pivot. Also, the gloves are made from a cut proof material so that skaters will not get cut by blades.

You get what you pay for. Expensive skates are usually worth the money, however cheaper skates are usually pretty good too.

Note: They're made in China, so its unlikely the build quality will approach handmade custom skates from the United States, Canada, Japan, Netherlands and such.

Koreans train vigorously from a very young age often putting education behind. They have passion for this sport and it is already highly competitive within Korea. It is said to be harder to qualify for the national team than the olympics.

yes . of course swiming will increase our speed in skating as it increases our stamina and also helps in arm development as speed skater needs his power po hands to go faster and keep him in motion .

legs also get stronger and can help you in heavy work outs durng the skating practice . ( technical skating for speed roller skaters)

but swiming should be done atleast 4-5 hours befor skating
