Optical Illusions

Optical illusions are visual images that differ from reality imagery. Literal optical illusions are different from the original images, physiological illusions are afterimages that follow a bright light, and cognitive illusions are unconscious inferences like distorting. Ask questions here about perception, depth, color, brightness, and patterns.

How does the human mind take in information?

The human body has 5 senses.

Sight

Smell

Taste

Touch

Hearing

The human mind takes in information through these senses.

Does sound like light in passing from water to air?

Yes, the sound like the light is refracted and distorted. just like the broken spoon in a glass of water, sound waves under water are broken. Sound traveling from the air to the water are bent and scrambled, but lets say that the spoon was completely in the water, then it appear perfectly normal. so if the sound originated from the water then it would remain undistorted.

Is optical illusion related with the astigmatism?

Optical illusions and astigmatism are not directly related, but they can interact with each other. Optical illusions are visual phenomena that trick the brain's perception, while astigmatism is a common refractive error caused by an irregular shape of the cornea or lens, leading to blurred vision. While astigmatism can affect how one perceives certain images, making some optical illusions less effective or distorted, the illusions themselves are primarily psychological and do not depend on any vision defects.

What is Kruckenberg's spindle?

Wiki said Krukenberg's spindle is the name given to the pattern formed on the inner surface of the cornea by pigmented iris cells that are shed during the mechanical rubbing of the posterior pigment layer of the iris with the zonules that are deposited as a result of the currents of the aqueous humor.

Why optical exaltation occurs?

Optical exaltation occurs due to the phenomenon where certain materials exhibit increased light transmission or reflection at specific angles or wavelengths. This effect is primarily influenced by the material's refractive index, surface structure, and the interaction of light with the material's electronic and molecular structures. When light interacts with these materials, it can lead to enhanced brightness or vivid colors, often resulting from constructive interference or resonance effects. Such properties are utilized in various applications, including optical coatings and display technologies.

When was The Illusion of Motion created?

When you deadhead flowers do you take just the flower or the entire stalk as well?

On roses clip back to next leaf, on daylilies take the entire stalk, otherwise just pop the declining bloom off.
The best way to deadhead is to remove only the faded flowers. Once all the flowers on a stem have been removed, then cut the stem back to a bud or leaf or to its base. Another way is to disbud, which is to take off the smaller buds to promote the larger ones.

What can you use if allergic to eyeglasses with polycabonate lenses?

Most allergies to eyewear arise from the nickel metal in eyeglass frames, even frames that claim to be another metal (ie-titanium) usually still have trace amounts of nickel metal in them. If the metal on the frame is turning green where it touches your skin, this is usually a sign of nickel metal allergy.

If you do truly have an allergy to polycarbonate lenses (which I've never heard of) you can just use standard plastic (CR-39) or glass lenses.

I just got new glasses and looking at my computer screen it looks like an isosceles trapezoid can glasses make objects distorted?

Your lens are not ground correctly for eye axis rotation, the problem can be fixed but you'll probably have to see an opthamologist MD.

What is keratometry and two way to write the result of measuring cornea curvature?

Keratometer is a device, which can be use to measure the curvature of the Cornea, in order to fit the contact lenses on it. The result ofcourse, is believed to measured only the Corneal Power and Astigmatism of the outer surface of the cornea, but there is a way to calculate the total Astigmatism amount for the eyeball, with using the Javal's law.

There are 2 ways to write the result of Keratometry, which are standard.

for example, we have calculated an amount for an eye like this:

43.00@90 & 46.00@180 => the Clinical result : -3.00X90 ATR (against the rule)

Now, to write the standard prescriotion, there are 2 way:

1- 43.00/46.00@180

2- 46.00X90

"@" Means Meridian

"X" Means Axis

How do we see in 3 dimensions?

We see in three dimensions because of the action of our two eyes. Our brain perceives two images simultaneously from two angles, giving us the perception of depth. This is the reason one loses their depth perception with only one eye.

What will happen if you remove the glasses while watching a 3d movie?

Well, you won't see the 3D effect. Instead you will see 2 separate images.

Try it.
