The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) are resposible for the Academy Awards (Oscars) each year.

Elvis' first recording was in 1954 with Sun Records. Some of his best work was recorded early in his career, before the Grammys awards were introduced in 1958. That was the year Elvis entered the U.S. Army. After completing his two years of service, he was focused on Hollywood. He did not get serious about his music again until the late 60's.
