The right time to start breeding parakeets is around 10 or 11 months old. Pay attention to the bird's cere (upper beak area). For the most part,budgies are very cleans animals.In fact,all birds are pretty clean.But when you do want to clean your parakeet,I would suggest a few sprays with a small spray bottle.Mine love love water.Its especially nice during a hot summer to cool them off.

My budgie will eat an entire twig of millet in a day if I leave it in the cage, and ignore his pellets -- so I've taken it out of his cage and only give it to him under supervision and when we are training as a treat. They should never eat more than one full twig a week, they're a healthy snack but they are high in fat and he will become overweight if given too much. Good luck!
