How can you get a copy of this book What it Means to Pray Through by Mother Dabney?
I have read it many times. Other than going to a church in Philly. You can find it at www.cofcogic.com
he probully baptize him in the name of the father son and holy spirit cuse they didn't no about jesus bak thenNew answer: No one in the Bible actually water baptizes in the name of Jesus. The baptism in the name of Jesus is the baptism with the Holy Ghost as told by John himself.
Mt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
John's baptism was a baptism in water, of repentance. It was a public display to get ready for the Lords Messiah and the kingdom of heaven. They confessed their sins and got ready for the Messiah. This was John's ministry. As far as I know it was not done in anyone's name except maybe God's but it was definitely done for the kingdom of heaven.
I know there are people today who baptize in the name of Jesus but the baptism in the Bible done in the name of Jesus Christ is a spirit baptism -- and what else would it be? What else in the Bible is Jesus Christ going to baptize with?
1. The Holy Ghost
2. Or fire
Some people every time they see baptism in the Bible they automatically think water baptism but that's not so. Water baptism is just an outward thing or a public thing to show the baptism of the Holy Ghost within. Notice that in Acts 2:38 there isn't anyone present who baptizes them, the people there are just told by Peter to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. This is Pentecost! This is the first fruits. Jesus just told them in Acts 1 that...
Ac 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Therefore the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is the baptism with the Holy Ghost that gives you eternal life through Jesus Christ.
The funny thing is that hardly anyone believes that.
Possibly because your answer is not biblically based. Scripture tells us John's baptism was a baptism of repentance not a "baptism in water of repentance". Baptism is not just an outwardly "thing". The word baptism means immersion. Coupled with many scripture proofs in the Word pointing to water, one that comes to mind is Phillip meeting with, and sharing Christ with, the eunuch, The eunuch asks Phillip what prevents me from being baptized and Phillip asks do you believe in the LORD Jesus with all your heart and the eunuch responds he does and the word says the chariot stopped and they went "down into the water".
No where in scripture does it say on the day of Pentecost that there was NO water present so why jump to that conclusion?
I do agree John did not baptize in the name of Jesus nor did he baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Scripture does not tell us exactly what words John used.
You are also correct that there is a baptism in the Spirit. Again a spiritual immersion in God's Spirit overflowing in us. It's interesting the Bible says it's like streams of Water bubbling up. Jesus called it living water.
I believe the Bible is clear baptism in water is to be done in Jesus name. There is power in the name of Jesus. Acts 4 tells us there is NO other name under heaven by which man is saved. I guess that leaves only one name. Jesus said I come in my fathers name, Hebrews chapter 1 tells us he inherited the name and Jesus said the Holy Spirit will come in His name. In Mathew 28 Jesus said baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. What is the name of the Son.. Jesus, What is the name of the Father... Jesus (which means Jehovah Savior) and what is the name of the Holy Ghost... Jesus (since Jesus said the Holy Ghost would come in His name)... thus all of scripture is in agreement that there is no other name than the name of Jesus. Also in Zecheriah 14:9 it says "in that day there will be one LORD and only ONE name.
John's baptism wasn't in water? What Bible are you reading?
Mt 3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
I think that the Jordan had water in it and confessing their sins was the act of repentance all making ready for Jesus Christ who would then baptize them in the Holy Ghost. Only men have to baptize with water because they can't baptize with the Holy Ghost only the Son of God can do that and He doesn't bother with water when water is only a symbol of the Holy Ghost to begin with.
As far as Acts 2:38 and there having to be a mention of no water in the passage for you to be wrong because that's what they teach at the church you go to? I would think that any sane man would think the other way and that if there is no context of water then ... you shouldn't presume there is any. But I'm not going to belabor that because the obvious thing is that Peter also adds ...
Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Water can't remit sins - only the blood of Jesus Christ can. Water does not cover your soul it only gets you wet. The act of being baptized in Jesus' name takes on what He did at the cross - which coincidentally is mentioned two verses above...
Ac 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
The problem is that most people have been taught exactly what you're saying and they have believed it and then they teach it and then when these points are brought up - they can't believe it.
If this isn't the baptism of Jesus what is?
Do Pentecostals believe in the trinity?
Answers from our community:
We know that everything is one. Jesus and god are the same and the Holy Spirit is the same as well.
Answer
Definetely we believe in the trinity; the Father God , the Son God Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost God. 1 John 5:7-12
Answer:
It may surprise people to know that the word trinity does not appear in The Bible. Jesus repeatedly is shown to be, not equal to his Father, bit a lesser one one subject to Jehovah God. John14:28 "You heard that I said to you, I am going away and I am coming back to you. If you love me you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I am." John 17:3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians "But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God.
Absolutely not, I have had the honor of traveling with this man of God and his beautiful wife and they are very much in love. I know that as a skeptic you could say that everyone makes it look that way on the surface but I believe this man of God to be of high integrity and very straight.

What were pigs used for in bible days?
Since Bible prophecy speaks of the time yet ahead of us... we are still in "Bible days" -- but pigs were used, anciently, the same way they're used now: people ate them.
While their doctrines seem similar at first glance, they actually differ on many teachings and practices. One of the most obvious differences is their government structure--UCG has a semi-democratic, election-based system, while The Restored Church follows the structure found in Eph. 4:11 and I Cor. 12:28. And there are many more.
RCG is the only group that holds to all of the doctrines that God restored to His Church in the twentieth century, under the leadership of Mr. Herbert Armstrong.

How can Pentecostalism share the gospel to Seventh-day Adventists?
As Seventh-day Adventists tend to be knowledgeable about the Bible and believe they have the Gospel (not to mention traditionally being missionary-minded), the idea of someone else needing to share the Gospel with them might be met with surprise. Seventh-day Adventists believe in the death of Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for sin, by which all may be saved, through faith, not to mention the imminent physical return of Jesus, so which gospel would they be receiving that they don't already believe? In fact, several important doctrines are shared between the Pentecostals and Adventists.
What is meaning of judges chapter 7?
Firstly, a little background: The children of Israel had done evil so God allowed the Midianites to rule over them for 7 years as in Ch.6:1. The Israelites suffered greatly and in v.7 they cried out to God for deliverance.
God called/chose Gideon and commissioned him to be a mighty deliverer through God's enabling power. In v.34 the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon.
Now to your question in chapter 7. God said to Gideon if the Israelites win this battle against the enemy, they will claim all the glory for themselves and not give Me, God, the glory, therefore to show My power, this battle will be won with only a minority of soldiers not a massive army of tens of thousands. God told Gideon to tell his soldiers if they were fearful and afraid that they could leave and go home and 22,000 of them immediately left with now only 10,000 remaining. Again, God said there were still too many soldiers so He told Gideon to take his 10,000 soldiers to water and God said "everyone who laps from the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set apart by himself: also, everyone who gets down on his knees to drink. In v. 6 it states ..."the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth was 300 men". All the others got down on their knees to drink water. This was God's way of determining who was chosen to be in the army.
People who put their faces in the water and lapped like a dog could not be as alert as those who stayed on their feet and brought the water up to their mouths with their hands. Whatever the exact explanation, the test was designed to reveal those who were more alert.
In v. 7 God said to Gideon, "By the 300 men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other men go home"
V.12 states the Midianites and Amalekites were as numerous as locusts (tens of thousands of soldiers) and countless numbers of camels. In v. 16 Gideon divided the 300 men into groups and gave them each a trumpet and an empty jar and placed a torch inside each jar. In v.19 Gideon and his men came up to the edges of the enemy camp and blew their trumpets and broke their jars, held the torches in their left hands and trumpets in their right hand for blowing and they all yelled out "The Sword of the Lord and of Gideon". By yelling these words out, they were declaring victory in the name of the Lord and also by Gideon.
The whole enemy army cried out and fled in terror. Because it was night time, the torches shining all around the enemy camp made it appear as though there was a huge army surrounding them and the loud noises of the trumpets and yelling terrified the enemy who thought they were going to be all slaughtered. V.22 says the enemy soldiers were so confused they used their swords against each other and fled. Gideon's army followed in hot pursuit along with other nations who joined in along the way.
Later on in Ch.8 v22 the men of Israel asked Gideon to rule over them because of his deliverance from the hand the Midianites, however Gideon replied to them that he would not, but ..."the Lord shall rule over you".
There was victory that day and the victory was won by God's power and might.

Why do Pentecostals celebrate Easter?
For the same reason as the rest of Christianity does: Easter commemorates the Resurrection. And as Paul says "if Christ is not Resurrected you are still in your sins", or in other words if the Resurrection did not happen there is noChristianity! This makes Easter the single most important Christian religious holiday.
Any sect or denomination claiming to be Christian that doesn't celebrate Easter therefore cannot be Christian!
Why do they call a church the assembley of god?
A church can loosely be termed an 'assembly of god' because the congregation comes together and assembles under one roof to give praise to god. More specifically, there is a Pentecostal group of churches called the Assemblies of God. This group has over 300,000 ministers in more than 200 countries around the world.
What foods are prohibited in Pentecostal Religion?
Pentecostal is a denomination of the Christian religion, it is not a religion itself. My father is a Pentecostal minister and I grew up going to Pentecostal churches. No foods are prohibited in the Pentecostal church. I think the only religion that prohibits certain foods are Judaism and Islam.

How does John fit with the other three Gospels?
For example, the other three gospels, known as the synoptic gospels, have the Cleasing of the Temple episode at the end of the mission of Jesus, as the trigger for his arrest. Since Johnuses the miraculous resurrection of Lazarus as the trigger for his arrest (John 12:19: "The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him. "), it moves the Cleansing of the Temple to the beginning of the mission of Jesus. Some say that there must have been two identical episodes in which Jesus overturned the tables of the moneychangers and said they had made his father's Temple like a den of thieves, but this is illogical.
This is only one of the examples in which the author of John took stories from his two sources gospels, Luke and Mark, and altered their sequence or character to suit his own theology. John also contains new material, some of which seems to have a second-century perspective.
Another Answer:
It fits as another viewpoint of the redemptive work of God done via Jesus. They (Gospels) are the good news from God that is manifested in the life, ministry, trial and torture, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus - our only mediator. The Gospel of John cries out to be the 'read me first' at it states its purpose clearly and succinctly - if you wish to enter eternal life (20:31) and this is not the case with the other three.
One studying/reading these four Gospels would do well in absorbing the main message being sent to their target audiences and not be overly concerned with literary aspects of each. Upon conclusion of reading all, it will become clear how each is a part of the whole.
Muslims believe that the archangel Gabriel who appeared to Muhammad , the Prophet of Islam , is the same as the one who appeared to Mary , the mother of Jesus, whereas (with the possible exception of the Roman Catholic church) Christianity as a whole does not believe that.
