Answer 1: Nope, its cause is simpler, a combination of poor nutrition and lack of exercise.

ANSWER 2: Sorry, but the cause is NOT ALWAYS SIMPLER! Many people who are overweight do not ALWAYS suffer from poor nutrition and lack of exercise, many are in fact either sick or very ill. For those who have had no weight problems, or have lost weight simply and easily they do not even think that these people who suffer from weight problems are maybe ill and sick in body that has caused the weight to pile on, this thought does not even enter their head!

I have a very good friend whose suffers from auto-immune deficiencies, she has no thyroid because of Hashimoto thyroiditis, no gall bladder, Lupus, Diabetes, Spondylitis, Oedema, the specialists told her when she was first diagnosed that she had to rest at home for at least one whole year and she was not allowed to even do light housework or gardening. She had to do this twice.

She could not even remember her children and husbands names and had to do jigsaw puzzles every day to exercise her brain like a muscle and today she still finds things to do to keep her brain working strong. She cannot cope with housework or make food for her family and has to have home help. She is positive, loving, and smiling, and adjusts well to her forced life changes. She does occasionally get down - but not for long as she does not like to live that way, she said its a choice she makes every day. It has not been an easy road for her at all, especially when she was such an active person and had to let it all go due to the illnesses, she used to do ballet, squash, swimming, gym, horse riding, and walking, but today she is sick and obese. She said she can handle her life's changes except for the obesity - she hates it because the way people treat her and the attitude they have towards her for the past 20yrs.

Not ONE person has every asked her if she was ill, instead they have been very insensitive and cruel often approaching her in shops, cafe's, Malls, Restaurants, churches, advising or telling her how to lose weight, offering pills, powders, vitamins, magic beans, milk drinks, injections, operations, all sorts of diets, that she should be in control of her eating habits and exercise more. Not one of these so called 'experts' has ever phoned, emailed, sms'd her, or given a kind word, etc... to encourage, support or uplift her, instead they treat her like a freak. So I'm not surprised by the first answer here - its typical! And its probably given by someone who has never had a weight problem or loses weight easily.

Her husband said she has never given an unkind word back, she'd rather leave them in their ignorance and let them think what they like, but they do not see the pain she goes thru at home [and he's not talking about the sicknesses!]. But he often tells them "Doesn't it every occur to you that she may be ill - not out of control!"

He said the pain over peoples rejection, cruelty, their dislike, sometimes downright hatred of her [yet they don't know her at all and despite the fact that she has done no personal harm to them], is shocking and disgusting! But despite all that she will not stop living her life as much as she is able to in a positive way and is always looking for ways to help others by encouraging them.

Her and her family and I have met many overweight people in all the years I've known her and we encourage them to go for full health check-ups, and a lot of them are finding they have an illness that is contributing to their weight problem. Since knowing her and what a wonderful person she is I have had a deep compassion for obese people, wanting to help them, that's why I have been asking if obesity is caused by some kind of demonic oppression etc... so that I can help her and maybe others like her in some way as the doctors and specialists have no answers.

Answer 3: Yes. The Bible does talk about gluttoneous spirits; it's a spirit that delights in the eating food. You have to first accept Christ as your Lord and saviour, ask him to help you defeat that spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost, and READ the Bible to gain knowledge of who you are in Christ and what you possess in Christ. I paid someone to help me receive the Holy Spirit.

There is an account in the Bible that may scare some people away from this.

But if you are doing it for the right reasons it does not hurt to pay someone.

I paid a member of a ministry team because I wanted to speak in tongues real bad. But this was out of a real heartfelt desire to worship God at the next level. I would not recommend paying for this out of a desire for prestige or something.
