NO! As a matter of fact Coke is very bad for you. If you are referring to the drink, one of the many reasons it's bad is the amount of sugar in a single serving of Coke. If you are referring to the drug Cocain, it is an addictive subsatance that most often will ruin one's life. No it's not because it can harm your body if you drink it too much. There has been a experiment in Hong Kong and found out that if you use Coke to wash the toilet, it's cleaner than using soup water or water!!! Coke taste quite good but it harms your body especially your bones. Once on the news this lady got a hole in her throat from drinking too much fizzy drinks like coke. She said everytime she would drink something fizzy, she would feel a burning sensation that hurt alot then she went to the doctor and found out she had a hole.

Once you do much at all to carbonic acid it breaks down to carbon dioxide and water again, that's why you belch so much when you drink carbonated drinks. Cola drinks also have "phosphoric acid", which actually CAN cause problems if you drink enough. Too much phosphoric acid (more than a couple drinks per week) can significantly reduce your bone density, also the caffeine can cause increased stomach acid production, but that's true if it's coffee, pepsi, Mt. The fact is the answer depends on what you mean by Coke or Pepsi...the company or the drink. If you mean the cola drink, then Coke is. Pepsi has never out-sold Coke in the 108 years of competition between the two. If you mean the company, then Pepsi has somewhat recently passed Coke, selling more water and other drinks (including Pepsi cola) combined. This, according to Fortune.

DIET drinks, generally do not contain ANY sugar or calories(and often no caffine). Unfortunately because of this many companies use aspertame in their beverages for various reasons which has shown to cause cancer in MASS quantities. Your doctor would probally say "don't do it because we know it is bad." But at the same time, too much iron or salt will kill you too but with out either you'll also die, so drinking aspertame will likely NOT cause you cancer. On that note some diet drinks do contain salt too, often because it's needed to flavor the drink.

So, in the end 90% of the time diet drinks will have no negative effects on your body except for maybe staining your teeth (most soda is clear by default and contains food coloring).

Downside of diet drinks:

Often lack in preservatives, natural and otherwise thus shortening their shelf.

Altered taste because a ton of chemistry goes into the original beverage (generally much more than you can do on your stove at home) and removing some ingredients that make the drink on healthy make it just about impossible to flavor the drink while keeping it 100% healthy. (If you've had a diet drink you already know that the holy grail of soda is a diet drink that taste like the original!)
