What human activity releases large amounts of sulfur dioxide into the environment?
Sulfur dioxide is produced by the burning of coal to produce electricity. Nearly 2/3 of the sulfur dioxide produced is through the burning of fossil fuels.
What gases do power stations produce?
Fossil Fuel plants:
Nuclear plants:
NPDES is an acronym for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
This is a federal program (generally administered by individual states) that controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into U.S. waters. Groundwater, construction dewatering water and other sources are discharged to the storm drain under this program.
Is humanity destroying environment?
No, it is changing it. Sometimes such changes are beneficial, and sometimes are harmful, but something has to be done in order to adapt mankind development to increasing demand for natural resources.

What are the consequences of land pollution?
Land pollution can affect wildlife, plants, and humans in a number of ways, such as:
The toxic materials that pollute the soil can get into the human body directly by:
Apex: All of the above.
THE main cause of water pollution are fertilizers and nutrient pollution. Some of the pollutants that are most prevalent in the manure, sewage and chemical fertilizers are Nitrates and phosphates. These pollutants run into the streams and rivers causing excessive growth in aquatic plants and algae leading to clogged waterways and dead zones.
Another cause of water pollution happens when oil, gasoline and additives gets spilled due to a leak in a major oil tanker. This usually gets a lot of coverage and press due to it's effects on marine animals, local fisherman and coastal businesses. Oils can also seep into the waterways through the groundwater as a result of a leak or small spill.
Main sources of water pollution can be
1. Urbanization: Rapid urbanization in the world during the recent decades has given rise to a number of environmental problems such as water supply, waste water generation and its collection, treatment and disposal. Many towns and cities which came up on the banks of rivers have not given a proper thought to the problems of wastewater, sewerage etc. In urban areas, the wastewater is let out untreated and causes large scale water pollution.
2. Industries: Most of the rivers and other sources of fresh water are polluted by industrial wastes or effluents. All these industrial wastes are toxic to life forms that consume this water. Thermal power plants, engineering industries, paper mills, steel plants, textile industries and sugar industries are the major contributors of wastewater production.
3. Agricultural runoff and improper agricultural practices: Traces of fertilizers and pesticides are wasted into the nearest water bodies at the onset of the monsoons or whenever there are heavy showers. Intensive and ever increasing usage of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals cause water pollution. Flood-plain cultivation is another significant contributor to water pollution.
4.Religious and social practices: In some religious faith's practices and social practices also add to pollution of river waters. Carcasses of cattle and other animals are disposed in the rivers. Dead bodies are cremated on the river banks. Partially burnt bodies are also flung into the river. These practices pollute the river water and adversely affect the water quality. Mass bathing in the river during religious festival is another environmentally harmful practice.
Plastic bags are also very dangerous and further add to the pollution load to the river water
Water pollution sources can be from various human activities such as wastewater sewage effluents, sanitary sewer overflows (SSO), combined sewer overflows (CSO), agricultural runoffs, concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO), street litters, leaking underground storage tanks, most recently in the news, or drugs that were not properly disposed of resulting in varieties of drinking water problems.
Water pollution can also be caused by acid rain.
Lack of awareness of humans is the primary cause of water pollution. Also dumping of garbage, oil spills, dumping of nuclear waste and passing waste in water sources are causes of water pollution.

us humans wash ourselves, leaving the tap runing, doing our buisness anything we do with water mostly is polution our oceans
A vacuum and a leaf blower use air but I don't know anything else.( this was my question that's why I couldn't put much)

How much oil is spilled a day from the gulf BP oil spill?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency estimates that 5,000 barrels per day began spilling from the rig. This was early on, and they made this estimate based on changes in the colors in the oil spill. See attached link. The estimate is very approximate and not rigorous because human error is involved in identifying colors.
According to BP, it is impossible to make a precise estimate of the flow rate from the blow out. Other experts have suggested that the flow rate may be considerably higher than 5,000 barrels/day as estimated by NOAA, but I have not seen the data to justify these estimates.
The 5,000 barrels per day = 210,000 gallons per day. On May 19, 2010, the insertion tube began to work, and is reported by BP to be siphoning off 2,000 barrels/day or 84,000 gallons per day, so the oil rate may be 125,000 gallons per day.
The weather has been good in the gulf, and there is an intense skimming and oil burning going on, so at the moment (May 21) it is difficult to say if whether the size of the spill is increasing or decreasing.
yes, because if we never had gas then all of us would be dead right now. Gas helps us to live and it is everywhere, even in shops, rivers, lands, EVERYWHERE
I hope my answer has helped you
Are cows the worlds biggest air polluters?
While cows produce large amounts of methane gas, which can be harmful to the environment, they are not the biggest air polluters. Humans cause the majority of air pollution from burning fossil fuels, improperly disposing of waste, using harmful chemical products, etc.
How this hazards of air pollution can be minimized?
Less factory work, taking the subway instead of a car, carpooling, reduce waste, and planting some trees or leafy shrubs.
What is the pollution doing to the air?
pollution is mixed with air,and it will affect the environmental and also affect ozone layer. so more skin disease will come.
Does China use bikes to help stop pollution?
Yes and no. While there are some concerned over the pollution there they largely use them because of the cost of owning a car and parking it in the cities.
What are the percentage of dangerous pollution produced by developed countries?
how much pollution is in Dominicon republic
What is the name of the pollution caused by human activity?
pollution is caused by 2 main sources.
1:natural sources 2:human beings.
human beings are the main pollutants, they are polluting land, water n air by their own actions n practices, even some where the natural sources of pollution like errosion of land is also subject to cause by us which is the result of deforestation, overgrazing of herds etc.
salinization and desertifications are the results of the advancments of human beings to some extends..polluted factory water contemnates river water whch is a source of fresh watr n many parts of the world.
traffic n transports pollut the air cause noise pollution and damages to the envirmnt and reflects as deseases n wearing off of the ozon lyr,.
Pollution permits are federal permits allowing public utilities to release pollutants into the air.
Will the sun ever burn out because of pollution?
yes, the sun is fully affected by pollution on earth even though it is so far away that you will never reach it
What are the fossil fuels that causes very little pollution?
Modern power plants do not produce any smog or harmful emissions other than Carbon Dioxide, and in vehicles the amount of harmful toxins has much more to do with the types of filters the exhaust system utilises than the type of fuel that is used. So I am assuming that by "pollution" you mean Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The real answer to your question then is "none", as they all produce significant amounts of CO2 emissions. A possible exception is Hydrogen, as it produces no CO2 during combustion whatsoever. However, it is not commercially exploited as a fossil fuel due to the limited quantity in fossil deposits and its high volatility.
The least amount of CO2 emission per unit of energy produced would be natural gas, followed by liquid hydrocarbons like petrol, diesel and kerosene. The most CO2 intensive fuel, and one of the most widely used, is brown coal. A relatively newly exploited fuel that also produces immense amounts of CO2 throughout its life cycle is Tar sands (bituminous sands).
What are the pro's and con's of a voluntary dismissal of a Chapter 13 case?
This question is so dependent on individual facts and circumstances that it defies a thorough answer, but I will make some general statements that are hopefully helpful: One "con" of voluntary dismissal is that the creditors who were not paid in full during the case will come back after the debtor. This is a pretty substatial "con." Another "con" is that the Chapter 13 is already on the debtor's credit report for 7 years even if the debtor dismisses it voluntarily. A big "con," which is highly situational, is that if a case is voluntarily dismissed after a Motion for Relief from Stay has been filed, that debtor is automatically barred from re-filing a new case for 180 days (6 months) (pursuant to 11 U.S.C. 109(g)). So, if a creditor, let's say the mortgage company, files a Motion for Relief from Stay to sell the debtor's house because the debtor has missed some mortgage payments, and the debtor voluntarily dismisses his or her Chapter 13, that debtor cannot re-file a new case for 6 months. This 6 month period of no bankruptcy protection may be sufficient time for the creditor to sell the home in a foreclosure action. A "pro" of dismissal might be, depending on the circumstances, that the debtor could re-file a new Chapter 13 and include debts that were incurred after the filing of the first Chapter 13 (and it should be noted that post-petition debts can normally be added to an existing Chapter 13 without dismissal if the case is converted to Chapter 7 by filing a Schedule of Post-Petition Debts). Please note that nothing in this posting or in any other posting constitutes legal advice; this is simply my understanding of the facts, which I do not warrant, and I am not suggesting any course of action or inaction to any person.
