The Poodle orginates from France, no doubt about it. Some people say that they orginated from Germany, but i don't believe that. Of course, Poodles are orginated from France. The Poodle did originate from Germany. People just think they came from France because they were very popular there. The Poodle was bred to retireve game from the lakes and oceans, similar to the Labrador and Golden Retriever.

I feel dry food is best for dogs teeth because it cleans the tarter. As dogs get older the tarter builds up and their gums become sore and your dog won't eat the hard types of foods which they need. Brush their teeth every day. To get your dog to gain a taste for dry food mix water or other liquid and let soak until kibbles become softer. I like the Eukenuba brand. Poodles can eat fresh baked, boiled chicken, plain yogurt, apples, rice, steamed carrots,steamed green beans. Don't feed your dog chocolate, acid foods, or junk foods like pizza, or fast foods are not good for dogs because it causes food allergies, skin problems, stomach upsets.

Poodles are extremely intelligent and learn through operant conditioning, just like any other dog. Get some small treats or break medium sized treats into pieces. Have the dog smell the treat and move away before they can eat it. Say a command and if they do not respond physically do it for them. I.e. sit... if they don't sit, push their bottoms down until they are sitting. Give them the treat then, even if you had to make them follow the command. Make sure you are SAYING the command. Continue to do this until they catch on and do it themselves to get to the treat faster.

To eliminate undesirable behaviors, look at the dog and tell them no as you gesture toward what they have done or are doing. Once they stop, perhaps pass the vacuum-- most dogs hate the vacuum.

Make sure you also reward them for good behaviors with treats and do not confuse them. When they are in trouble, they are in trouble. When they are being rewarded they have done something good.

Depending on the age of the dog, you want to get them fixed before their first heat or in between their heats. You can get them fixed while they are in heat, but the procedure is more hurtful and difficult. You would want to contact your vet to set up the best time to get your dog spayed. My yorkie-poo is ten mos. old ten inches high at shoulder and weighs sixteen lbs. He looks to be all york ,coal black, however he has longer legs than an adult yorkie. It is my understanding that the mix will vary in size favoring one breed or the other. Mine's lookin' to favor tall and trim. Four would be a normal size litter, They don't have huge litters. But can have 5 or 6 but 4 would be a good size litter. The smaller the litter the better condition the Dam will be in..

This really depends on your own preference and whether there is a medical reason to bathe your poodle more frequently. As a rule of thumb, if your poodle smells he/she will definitely need a bath. :-)

I have two poodles and my youngest needs a bath every 3-4 weeks because he has allergies which irritate his skin and causes him to have a strong doggy smell. However, my oldest dog doesn't need bathing as frequently, I usually bathe him every 6-10 weeks depending on when he needs a hair cut or more frequently if he smells.
