Pentecostal churches tend to be independent fellowships without strong connections to organized denominations; each congregation follows the leading of the Holy Spirit as they feel it. Presbyterian Churches are "connectional," with each local congregation electing elders as representatives to local, regional and national governing bodies. Pentecostals emphasize personal salvation through a "born again" experience as well as the "Second Blessing," or Baptism in the Holy Spirit, evidenced by glossolalia and/or other ecstatic gifts and miraculous signs. The main Presbyterian Church (USA) holds that homosexuality is a sin, but is still debating whether it's chose or not. They do encourage not to throw out the sinner with the sin, and they also do not believe in laws that discriminate against homosexuals.

Amy Carmichael was born on the Shankill Road in Belfast (now the capital city of Northern Ireland) She was considered unusual as she had dark brown eyes which in a nordic blue eyed community caused other children to tease her. As a child she often prayed that God change her eyes to blue. Her Christian mother reassured her that she had brown eyes because God had a good reason for giving her brown eyes even though at that time she did not know what that was. Later when she went to India as a missionary in the community as dark drown is the prevailing eye colour. The she developed a deep sense of kinship with India and the Indians but she never forgot her roots on the Shankill Road, where she sponsored the building of a church still known as Welcome Hall. She is still highly regarded in Northern Ireland as one of the most influential Christian women of the 19/20th centuries.

I do not think there is any known definitive answer . My guess is that the Presbyterian was a drink for people who were supposedly abstainers as Presbyterians traditionally were. It is ginger ale and soda water with a little whiskey slipped in. It might pass for an non-alcoholic drink to a casual observer.

It might also be considered a sissy drink by some one who drinks straight whiskey.

So, the name might have used to suggest that its drinkers might as well be Presbyterians, i.e. be abstainers.
