Every prophet had to face great problems to spread the teachings of Islam. The last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was no exception. He had to face many problems. As soon as he started preaching Islam and told the pagan Arabs to worship ONE and ONLY Almighty Allah, they turned against him. When they found that some of the people like Hazrat Abu Bakr (RAU) had accepted Islam, they became alarmed. They started torturing the followers of Islam. They worshipped 360 idols. It was strange for them to worship only One Almighty God. The holy Prophet (SAW) preached to them that Almighty Allah was the Sole Creator, Nourisher, Sustainer, Provider and Ruler of all the worlds and creatures He has created. The pagans also didn't want to lead a pious life that was demanded by Islam. They conspired against him and tried to kill him. When he went to Taif to preach Islam, he was maltreated and stoned. He was called a poet and a Kahin. Makka, where he used to be called 'the most Truthful and Honest' became a place full of enmity for him and his followers. He faced all kinds of opposition and humiliation for thirteen years at Makka and then was forced to migrate to Madina Munawara. The Muslims were attacked many times at Madina. The Pagans, Non-believers left no stone unturned to wipe out the Muslims, but Almighty Allah helped the Muslims and they remained victorious in the end.
Did Prophet Muhammad write the Quran himself as claimed by many non Muslims?
Muhammad did not write Quran. Whatever stories Muhammad was reciting were recorded by his companions and they themselves were reciting these as a poems. Poem are easy to memorize than regular writings.
During the time of Muhammad, many claimed that Muhammad was just reciting the stories that they heard before. Following are two reasons out of many the non-muslims gives for this argument.
1) Mohammad got Christian and Jewish Scripture details mainly from his Christian wife Kadijah and her cousin Waraqa:Muhammad's first wife was a Christian. Her uncle Waraqa was a monk who spends time at Hira Caves. Mohammad used to visit him to hear Biblical accounts. Mohammad never wrote anything. However, Mohammad retold these biblical incidents to Mohammad's followers as revelations from Allah. This is why Quran contains Biblical accounts. Many times Mohammad messed up the Biblical incidents and told them a distorted version of the true Biblical accounts. This is why Quran contradicts with the Biblical incidents. Mohammad does not have to be a learned person to recite what he heard from Waraqa and others.
2) Mohammad heard fables and tales from others and recited as Allah's revelation: You do not need education to do this. During Mohammad's time, many people accused him of repeating these fables as revelation from Allah (Quran 8:31, 16:24, 25:5, 27:68, 46:17, 68:15). Some of the examples of the fables of that time found in Quran are the following: (None of these are included in the New Testament because they were fables)
1) Quran mentions the story of Satan and his conflicts with Adam and God (7:11-12). This was mentioned in the Gospel of Bartholomew written in 3rd century A.D
2) Quran mentions an altered version of Mary's betrothal to Joseph (3:44). This was mentioned in the gospel of the Birth of Mary written before the 4th Century A.D
3) Quran mentions Jesus speaking from cradle (3:36, 5:110 & 19:29-34). This was written in The First Infacy Gospel Of Jesus Christ (1:1-3)
4) Quran mentions Child Jesus making a clay bird and giving life (3:39, 5:110). This was written in two sources - Infancy Gospel of Thomas (A.D. 150) and Gospel of the Infancy of Jesus Christ (15:1-7).
