No it is a drug prescribed for numerous things and is different to other drunks (amphetamines or methamphetamine) which will show up on a drug test. Ritalin is not usally tested for however if the person issuing the test wants to it can be tested.

Most would say that they wouldn't considering the cost it would take for such a test. I was reading a comment b4 about a guy that was doing it over a year n always getting tested at his clinic and never had a worry. So I would say no. Besides, I wouldn't think they'd bother a healthy muscle guy considering most people I see at my clinic I go to looking all skinny and nasty! Lol

While Ritalin is not actually methamphetamine or amphetamine, it IS methylphenidate. Methylphenidate "looks" a lot like amphetamine AND cocaine (benzoylmethylecogine) The test probably tests for the metabolites of aromatic compounds, rather than the actual presence of these drugs in your system (unless you get a blood test). My guess is that if the substances are similar in nature to begin with, then they probably get degraded to common compounds. Which means, it probably would show up if you took enough of the drug. Just what is "enough" depends upon how much you weight, where that weight comes from (sorry fatties, but drugs like living in the extra non-polar lipid bundles around your waist), how active you are, and MOST IMPORTANTLY,

TIME!

Ritalin gets metabolized beyond therapeutic efficacy within 24 hours. It's virtually all out of your system after 48 hours, and if you go the distance...say 96 hours, it's fully out of your system. No doubt.

There is no actual way to "fail" or "pass" a drug test. It all depends upon what your employer/drug officer/wife..don't ask is concerned about. If you say you take Ritalin to help with school, chances are they won't get too concerned with a positive test for amphetamines. That said, don't be stupid and smoke weed and think you can get away with it just because you take Ritalin. That's completely different.

Lastly, if you're still concerned, call the drug testing company up, pretend to be an employer who wants to drug test an employee who you think is abusing Ritalin, and ask if they are able to detect it, and if so, say "the employee doesn't work Friday-Sunday, but they're "over the top" on Monday" and that you've heard them discuss abusing drugs with other employees, etc. fill in the blanks. hope this helps.

I have been taking 15mg of Methylphenidate twice each day for the past 18 months. It is for Adult ADHD. I am 59 years old. I have no general history of drug abuse other than having smoke pot and heavy drinking when I was a kid.

From time to time I have taken more Methylphenidate (up to 30mg) per dose and/or taken a third dose during the day. To me it seems 15mg does the job and when I take 20 or 25mg per dose it just gets me a bit reved up. The regular dose of 15mgX2 gives me the "enthusiasm" I need to get through the day.

Just now I started taking Nortriptyline 25mg twice a day for a pinched nerve in my neck. It is supposed to help with nerve pain. I can't say it relieves the pain but it somehow makes it feel different... less intense.

Overall, I am concerned with the combination of the two drugs. One is actually a stimulant, the other an anti-depressant. You'd think they'd work against each other.

I find... after two weeks... that the combination makes me feel quite well as it pertains to ADHD... plenty of focus, no anxiety. Nothing noticed as to adverse side effects.... BP low/normal. Appetite normal.

I am not a doctor but I do have experience with UA's and promethazine or as it is commonly referred to as Phenergan has nothing in common with cocaine so in my opinion it is very unlikely for Phenergan to give a false positive for cocaine. It is much more likely if you did come up with a false positive that the test is simply bad and wrong This has happened to me.

Caffeine & adderall have a synergistic effect when combined and the effects of both chemicals will be significantly emphasized. The addition of coffee with the adderall will definitely increase Adderall's effects of wakefulness, mood elevation, alertness, etc. But as great as that sounds, caffeine also potentiates the negative side effects of adderall, such as nervousness, insomnia, irritability, palpitations, rapid heart beat, dysphoria, etc. In fact, the combination of the 2 may exacerbate the negative side effects to such a point that the adderall's positive effects are diminished. Also, anyone with anxiety issues may want to stay away from the combination of the two since it will increase his or her anxiety. The 2 together can induce panic attacks in susceptible individuals. But honestly, from personal experience, a cup of coffee in the morning with adderall is OK but anymore than that and I tend to experience too many negative effects and actually LOSE focus on tasks rather than gain focus. As someone with anxiety issues, I am really careful about my caffeine intake the rest of the day (as in no more for me the rest day:) )

With all that said, if you are going to combine coffee and adderall together, start with 1/2 a cup and wait an hour and see how it makes you feel. If you are nervous and jittery and anxious, then perhaps you should not combine the 2. Just start slow and see if it works OK for you. I know people that can drink all the caffeine they want on their adderall and are just fine and then I know others that can not have any caffeine at all. Just be smart about it:)

Also studies have show that coffee effects the potency of adderall causing the body to simply flush adderall out of your system. Others studies have shown that people with add or adhd who drink coffee tend to multi task or tend to notice that symptoms of add or adhd tend to be more noticeable. Causing you to be awake but not focused.

Since these two very different pathways effect the nervous systems via two different methods, the combination of the drugs will have a greater range of effects. Effects are also variant on the amount of sleep one has had and the time of day the combination is ingested.

I currently take 80mg straterra, 70mg vyvanse (a speed-derived drug like adderall), and 10mg lexapro (an ssri like paxil, luvox, etc) and it is working great!

before I started vyvanse, I was taking straterra with lexapro and adderall: about 40 mg of adderall daily.

taking too much adderall caused me to be very anxious, self-conscious, and almost paranoid. when I reduced adderall to about 20 mg/day, as well as when I switched over to vyvanse, things smoothed out much better.

i should add that I was smoking a decent amount of medical marijuana at for most of this period too, which probably increased the paranoia....

I have since stopped the pot, and things are very smooth.

Just my personal experience, your results may vary, but whatever you do, be very cafeful with adderall!!! I had a mild psychotic episode where I thought everyone was out to get me, I couldn't leave home, and I am a "normal" person!

I am on 40mg of Srattera (once a day), 30mg of Adderall and 37.5mg of Paxil. I haven't noticed any unusual side effects, but that is just my own experience. Every individual is unique in their response to certain medications.

Adderall XR comes in multiple dosage forms, and usually these are easily transcribed to IR or visa versa. However, 20 mg. of IR 3x daily does not have an equivalent XR dosage for the triple daily dose. The manufacturer offers Adderall XR 30 mg. capsules, which would mean you would take the full 60 mg dose (2 capsules) all in the morning. It would end up being equivalent to taking two 30mg dosages of IR, rather than 3x 20 mgs daily. My psychiatrist gives me vyvanse 70 milligrams which i take in the morning at around 8 oclock and then i take a 15 milligram dose of adderall instant release at around 2-3 oclock. It is not safe to take NyQuil while also taking Adderall, Klonopin, Lexapro, and Percocet, as it can cause seizures and other serious side effects.

Take your methylphenidate (ritalin) and crush it up into a very fine powder. 20 mg is suggested, though 10 works too.

Put this onto a 5'' by 5'' sheet of foil in a line.

Put an equal line of baking soda onto the foil.

Our son weighs around 95 pounds and started out on 40, then 60 mg, this did not seem to work. Dr is now saying to try 80 mg. We don't know what to do either. Dr says 80 is not too much for him. You are not alone in this, even though we feel like we are sometimes.

My son, age 10 weighed 96# when he started on stratera. He now weighs 90# (side effect) and the maximum dose he was ever on was 25 mg. (started at 10mg., went to 18mg. and stopped titrating at 25mg. due to extremely positive impact) His doc. was planning on going to 40mg. but saw no need due to positive impact on ODD symptoms. On the other hand, my friend has a daughter who weighs the same amount and is on 120mg. (80 at night, 40 in AM). Based on my experience, 60mg. is a moderate dose and 120 is the legal max.

I'm finding I'm learning more from "users" or parents of children that use than I do from the doctors. I agree about taking him off on weekends is a disaster. I think we're beginning to see the key to making this work. Since we've kept it continuous, we've significantly lessened the mood swings, hair pulling, etc. Also, from another posting on this website I learned that taking peanut butter before each pill eliminates the stomach aches. That's a miracle solution for us!

Our son is 12 and about 95 lbs. He has been on a 60 mg dose of Strattera about six months and is doing well. He was originally on a 40 mg dose and it had almost no effect. This medication has been far superior to the stimulants for him, and his school work has improved. He seems more "normal" on it than on the stimulants where he would have the rebound effect and act horribly at night. We took him off of the Strattera on his vacation in December and it was a big mistake. I don't think you can just use Strattera like the stimulants, stopping them on weekends and vacations. I don't think 60 mg is too high at all, and his side effects are limited to occasional heartburn.

How young are you talking about? My daughter is ADHD and has been on meds since she was 6 yrs old. She's been on Stattera since September 2003. Started her out on 40 mg in the morning and 40 mg in the evening. Now she's up to 60mg in the am & 40 at night. That's 100 mg!!! She is now 14 yrs old. Only side effect she has had is the heartburn. She takes Nexium for that.

My son has been on every kind of ADHD meds. He on strattera 60mg one time a day. he weights 79#, he 10. with him we been through everything mood swings, hitting, bitting, you name it he did it.I find that if he on a routine everyday things go much smoother, he also take risperdal 0.5mg that's a antipsychotic agent for the volent outburst. If you think that ur child is on to high of a dose than talk to ur Dr. only you know what going on with ur child on the meds. talk to your child about how they feel on the meds,I found that my son will tell me if he on to high of a dose. Only you and your child can get the dose where it should be at.
