The time signature is not what is different; it is still 4/4, 6/8, 3/4 etc. What is unique is the 1 and 3 is accented instead of the 2 and 4. I as a drummer sometimes get the impression that I have to play " backwards ". This is also true of Latin music. It's just a different pulse.

His most famous hit was "Ring the Alarm" recorded when he was nineteen. He was killed in Houston Texas in 1988 while trying to cross the street in front of a recording studio. He was 22 years old.
