The Sheriff of Nottingham
Why did King John hate Robin Hood?
Back in the twelfth century, when Robin Hood takes place, most of the forests had laws attached to them. Typically, only the nobles or the king were allowed to hunt the deer in them. Robin broke these laws by hunting the deer when he was an outlaw, a criminal. He would have been punished by death, so he hid from John. John tried to capture him many times, but Robin always escaped. How would you feel if someone stole things from you on a regular basis, you tried multiple times to catch and punish them, and they always escaped? It's no wonder that Prince John hated Robin so much. I am not saying that John is in the right. But the laws were harsh back then and that was merely the way many people thought. They did not question the laws or their position in society. They thought it was ordained by God.
The answer above is a point of view, but by no means the only one. The commonly accepted story in England is that Robin of Locksley (heir to an Earldom) was a loyal subject of King Richard. Richard went away to war in Europe (some stories say Palestine), and was captured on his way back to England. In those days royalty and nobility after capture were held for ransom, which had to be paid by their kingdom or their estate. John taxed the peasants to the hilt to raise the ransom, but then didn't pay it over. Richard stayed locked up overseas, and John used his absence to usurp the throne. Many of Richard's subjects remained loyal; Robin was the outstanding example. When Richard finally made it home Robin was restored to his former station in life.
p.s. to this day the usurping John is known in England as "bad King John".
What were the names of robin hoods parents?
Robin Hood didn't have parents because he is a character in a story that dates from the 1200's. The story began as an oral poem and has been retold through the centuries. Eventually, it was written down, characters added, and changed over time. Modern versions of the story added a family background, but it isn't real. Historians are not sure if there ever was a true "Robin Hood" since no historical evidence has been found that he existed.

First references to Robin Hood begin in the thirteenth century, and go on from there. There is no historical verification, but it all makes a great story!
In my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles I identify the Robin Hood of the ballads with the Robyn Hod who was valet and porter to Edward II. My reasoning is that in one of the ballads King Edward takes Robin Hood into his service. Robyn Hod's birth date is unknown, but there are no records of him past 1345. In the novel I conjecture that he died of the Black Death in 1348.
yes he was
In the ballads which are the earliest sources of the Robin Hood legend, which I use as the basis for my novel The Robin Hood Chronicles, Robin is never actually captured. The closest he comes to being captured is that King Edward comes to put an end to Robin and his band of men but instead becomes fond of Robin and takes him into his service.
