Punk Rock. Rough rock-&-roll played at high energy, often with rather angry, snarling para-political lyrics, and often an aggressive attachment to low musical ability. Supposedly an antidote to rock having lost its way in the complexities of Progressive Rock; but it could be argued that Punk was so far removed from P.R. that heavy-metal was the more likely reaction. Part of a fashion that included strange clothes and unpleasant behaviour; hijacked commercially by Malcolm MacLaren.

Heavy Rock. Goes back to the 1960s but still retains and attracts anew, a large, faithful following. Various styles ranging from quite melodic to wall-of-sound "thrash" with no pretence to be anything at all subtle.

New Wave. Rather fey, heavily synthesised pop that tried to be a lyrical and melodic reaction to Punk. It did at least try to show genuine ability to play or sing; and though some succeeded, much of it ended up as bland, soul-less crotchet-counting.

New R-'n'-B. A marketing name. Not to be confused with Rhythm and Blues, which is hard-edged, 12-bar blues-based rock. Characterised by very formulaic synthentic, sampled or session-musician backings of celebrity solo singers, many of them female, of dubious talent; and manufactured with a purely ommercial end in view.

Drum-&-Bass and similar. Purely dance beats, mostly synthetic and sampled, little or no lyrical content, melody or rhythm; with no pretence or intention of anything more than something to dance to.

Also don't forget that a huge amount of much deeper music of all styles including orchestral symphonies, choral and opera, is still being written.

M- or EX+ is generally perfect. VG++ is almost a M- or EX+ . EX or VG+ is pretty good or excellent. Not mint, some scuffing, some very minor noise, but still pretty darn excellent. VG or EX- is like a regular used record, marked up but still plays OK where the music still comes through better than the noise.

Depends mostly on the strings. Various gauges reach various depths, but with normal electric guitar strings, I have reached Drop A, no problem. Many bands go lower, for example Slipknot did a couple of songs in Drop G I think, Cannibal Corpse are famous for A# Standard tuning. The lowest I've heard (and possibly the lowest currently possible) is E standard, an entire octave (12 half steps) down from Standard Tuning, used in Meshuggah's song "Spasm".I think with normal strings I wouldn't dare go beyong Drop G#, but with different guage strings, I believe 12 half steps down is the lowest in a recorded song. Rock and roll was the music preferred by the young people, and in the 1950s, it was a sign that society was changing. I love Rock music. Personally, I think it's an amazing genre. I'm guessing a lot of people like/love Rock music but not as much as those who like Hip Hop/Rap/RnB/Clubland/ Pop since we're living in a generation where we have bad artists like Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and One Direction who killed music. If we were living in the 90's or the early 2000's, I would personally say everyone liked Rock music:)
