This could be several problems. To figure it out have you tried playing multiple media's through? Such as watching television programming, a DVD, a Blu-Ray, a CD, a radio station, etc... You may not have all of these hooked up through your receiver but switching up the media may give you a difference. If you are hearing the pops and snaps through just one, such as when you watch DVD's, then it would be the signal coming from the DVD player. To further investigate switch up the DVD's to see if it's just on movie or all of them. If not and you are getting these sounds on everything you play through the receiver than check that your speaker wires are connected properly (not loose or touching the other connector) then check that the wires themselves haven't been compromised (hard crimpes in the wire, split wires [I had this problem and I found out my cat was eating a wire] or if you fastened a wire in place with nails, staples, etc that they aren't going through the wire) if you have wires going under the house or through the attic then checking these is key, even though it's probably a pain in the ass. Replacing these is cheaper than a new system. If your sure that all of the above is good and in top shape than try to determine where the sounds are coming from. Are they coming from one speaker or all of them?
