Just paid $70 at a Pawn shop, gun is in fair condition.

Huskee has been built under MTD and Murray. I don't know the exact production years for each manufacturer carrying the Huskee brand, but I think it has something to do with who gave Huskee the more favorable contract to build with their brand name. It's basically a decal treatment. They don't bother dressing Huskees up with niche options like the Cubs and Trot-Bilts at Home Depot to make them stand out from Yard Machines. So it's kind of like buying a Cadillac Escalade... basically an overpriced rebadged GMC Denali; And a Huskee is a rebadged, slightly more expensive Yard Machines.

Huskee was there own company back in time and was purchased by MTD later. I don't ever rembember Murray having the Huskee name. It was a better built machine than the average MTD, but that was taken care of later. If you can't sell it under one name, change the decal...

The shotgun is not of much value unless family heirloom. Ranges from $25-79 is what I have seen qouted. I have one and have been looking for a bolt assy. The shotgun was my dad's. Are considering selling this item. hannond@windstream.net

blue book doesen't list a specific price. due to the rareness of ranger arms shotguns. but it does say 90%+ will go for $375-$500, mainly again due to the rareness of their firearms

Hi, I own a Sears & Roebucks Ranger 105.20 or a Harrington & Richardson 120. Your gun as far as I can tell from the information I am personally concerned with also, was made between 1948 /49 By Sears High Standard. The Marlin model 90 was manufactured between 1937 & 1963. They were initially made for Sears Roebuck and were marked "Ranger" before WWll and "J.C. Higgins" after the war. Guns made prior to 1949 had a space between the barrels and were solid after that. Marlin Firearms Company has purchased the assets of H&R 1871, the world's largest manufacturer of single-shot, break-open shotguns and rifles. The new company is known as H&R 1871, LLC, and includes the brand names Harrington & Richardson, New England Firearms and Wesson & Harrington. Marlin did not purchase the handgun operation which ceased production in 1999. Also, H&R 1871 will not honor any warranty on firearms made by the original H&R. Their website can be found @ http://www.hr1871.com/. This Shotgun does not have much value, but is a dependable blot action Shotgun. There is some controversy about it's safety, there is a screw which is what keeps the bolt from coming out when you reload the gun. Make sure the screw is in place, and you'll be fine. I believe Sears offered a $50.00 rebate way back when? when it became a legal issue with this Shotgun? This is where things get, and are a little questionable. So please research this issue on your own. I personally don't see how a retainer screw, can make this gun unsafe.

I just purchased the exact slide action rifle for $100.00. It is in good mechanical condition with a good barrel bore. However, the blueing is very warn. I love the looks of a well used but trustworthy and fairly accurate condition rifle.

It is worth every dime if you like it. Don't sell it. They don't make these any more.

I am also looking for parts for a J.C.Higgins 22 cal Model 43. I need the complete bolt assembly!

from what i have researched it was made by savage. the savage model number for it is 96/96y i have seen them priced any where from $70 at 75% condition to 120 at 95% condition.

Go to Walmart and locate the least expensive 12 gauge pump they are selling today. Figure that your used gun is worth 2/3 to 3/4 as much if it is still in usable condition but not absolutely like new. If your gun is one of the shotguns Winchester made for Sears, it may be worth a bit more than that, but you didn't give a model number to cross-reference.

"583" indicates a gun made for Sears by High Standard or Harrington & Richardson. The digits you x'd out should tell us which HS or H&R model it is. Model 20, according to my list, is a pump- or slide-action gun. If that's right, a High Standard would be worth $100 in useable condition and $165 in top condition. With the Sears name, figure it's worth about 2/3 as much.

Not knowing exactly who manufactured the gun, I can't say for certain, but a Navy Arms reproduction Zouave lists from $100 to $400, depending on condition.

I bought one in 2006 from a local gunshop that does allot of business. I paid $300.00 for one that had dings and scratches on the stock and the bluing showing its age. However the fit and function is wonderful, so much better than the current imports, that there is no comparison. I thought the $300.00 was cheap, but figured the gunshop guys new its worth. Since then, I too have been looking for prices of these shotguns and have been able to find no other sources of information.

marlin made afew of there rifles Dozens of US manufacturers and some foreign companies have made guns marked with various Sears trade names. I doubt if a complete list can ever be compiled, but some of the major US companies include Crescent, Davenport, Fyrberg, Meriden (owned by Sears), Iver Johnson, J. Stevens, Savage, Harrington & Richardson, Marlin, and High Standard. Many Sears shotguns in the 1950's to 80's were actually Winchester products. From the late 1800's to about WWI, many were imported from Belgium.

You might check your local library for old catalogs.

SAVAGE most likely. They produced a number of these for SEARS including the model 101.40B. Would be nice to see a table that shows the identical SAVAGE model no's, so I can order parts for one myself too...

With such a detailed description of your shotgun, all I can say is that Sears sold shotguns, including .410 gauge, from the 1880's to about 1990.

I have been told that these guns are worth about $75 to $150 and were made by Winchester in the 60's.

101.xxx is the Sears ID for a gun from J. Stevens, so it is probably a Model 94 which was made from 1926 to 45. Any gunsmith should be able to find parts, but if you want to look yourself, check Numrich Arms at the related link >>>>
