Was mano war better than secretariat?

No. It's a matter of opinion, of course, but if you look at times for distance, Secretariat ran faster than Man O War.

What charateristics did Secretariat have?

Secretariat seemed to have been blessed by the racing Gods. He had an extra large heart, that engine of power, speed and stamina. He also had what is referred to in racing circles as the "Nearco Rump", an angular muscle on the hindquarters that gives extra speed and fluidity in stride, he was an extremely powerful horse with a 25 foot stride. He was considered one of the most beautiful thoroughbreds ever, and was very intelligent, seeming to pose for pictures!

How much did secretariat's hart weight?

His heart was not weighed, but was estimated to be 20-22 pounds.

How close was Barbaro to Triple Crown?

he was close but so are sooo many other racehorses nominated for the triple crown just look at big brown. what sucks is breeders of racehorses breed for speed not sturdyness so since the triple crown races are so close together to where the racehorses arn't used to running in races so close together they get tired and can't win the whole thing and in Barbaro's case since he wasnt bred to be sturdy his body couldn't hold up to it so he broke down. Its sad but true.

that entire answer above me is wrong. Barbaro was not close to winning because he did not finish the preakness and it is not because of him being "sturdy" or whatever they think somehow when he did a false start it triggered something in his ankle and pastern......he did not break down because he was not "sturdy" he took a bad step and there is no such thing as breeding horses to be sturdy so they don't break down thoroughbreds are very light and thin on the track they get tired because of distance and jockeys letting the horses blow out the first few furlongs.

Barbaro just had a bad start at the Preakness Stakes but in my opinion as the class of Barbaro if that accident didn't happen he would have swept the Triple Crown Championship because that horse has a lot of heart and courage to win.

How much is Secretariat's bridle worth?

Whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It's an old, used bridle; its intrinsic worth is pretty much nothing.

I've put a link in the related links section to an auction site so if you're interested you can see how much someone did pay for it (you have to sign up to see, and I'm personally not that interested, but since you asked you might be).

Bold Ruler was known as a "speed horse", who often passed on his blazing speed to his offspring. On the flip side however, many of his progeny were fast, but could not hold up in distances over a mile and a quarter. Secretariat got his staying power and stamina from his grandsire, Princequillo.
