The Bible tells us 'Pray without ceasing'. Continual prayer to God is the only effective way. Even if your prayer isn't answered in the time you want it to be, it will be answered in God's time and not necessarily how you may have wanted it to be. But do not stop praying, prayer is an important part of your relationship with God.

Who was M. C. Sturdevant among the Seventh-day Adventist missionaries?

Obituary

STURDEVANT.---Elder M. C. Sturdevant was born near Onarga, Illinois, U. S. A., April 5, 1865 and died at his home in Sheridan, Illinois, August 18, 1933, at the age of sixty-eight years. At the age of nine years he was converted and joined the Methodist Church. In the fall of 1879 he heard the truth as taught by Seventh-day Adventists and with his father and eldest brother began the observance of the Sabbath and kindred truths.

On September 14, 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Maggie Foreman. To this union were born two sons, the younger dying in infancy. Years later the older son passed away at the Solusi Mission, Bulawayo, South Africa.

In 1892 he with his family went south to Tennessee where he was engaged in the canvassing work. A few years later he began work for the coloured people of Alabama, where a church was raised up. Ten years were spent in the south. In 1902, the call came for him and his family to go to South Africa. On March 5, 1902, they left New York arriving at Cape Town April 1. One week was spent at the Cape when he left with his family for Solusi Mission, arriving there April 17. He laboured there eight and one half years.

In November, 1910, he opened the Inyazura Mission labouring there four years when failing health compelled him to give up mission work. The year 1915 was spent in Johannesburg where he worked for both Europeans and natives. In May, 1916, he returned to Rhodesia working in Umtali. After labouring there for two years he was called to Durban to work for the Europeans, later working for the Indian people. He also laboured in Barberton and Kingwilliamstown. In 1929 he and his wife left Africa for the homeland. One year was spent labouring for the church in Ottawa, Ill. On account of failing health he was compelled to give up all work.

In his last hours he was often heard in prayer for the work of God and his many friends.

He leaves his wife and one sister and many friends to mourn their loss, but they sorrow not as others which have not the blessed hope. Words of comfort were spoken by Elder E. R. Potter to a large assembly of friends and neighbours.

MRS. M. C. STURDEVANT.

Can Seven days Adventist do others things beside services?

Adventists can certainly do other things. They celebrate holidays, except Halloween, and they can even socialize with other kinds of people too. Sometimes people misunderstand the seventh day adventists. Usually it is completely ignored, but that is because there is something with the adventists that sets them aside as a category for God.

What justification do Adventists have for saying there is no hell when clearly scripture says there is?

Our scripture clearly says there isn't. I don't know what scripture you're referencing to but the scripture that I was read before I was baptized made me understand there isn't a "hell". Many think there is a hell but there won't be and never will be.

The Investigative judgement is the judgement that started on October 22nd, 1844, the judgement is the judgement of those who are currently dead. The Investigative judgement is still going on today. At the end of the investigative judgement will be the judgement of the living, that starts at the same time Jesus comes back. The wicked living will be cast into the lake of fire and that's the 2nd death. The righteous will be taken to heaven to live with the Lord for 1,000 years, this is called the Millennium. After the 1,000 years the wicked dead will be risen Satan will deceive them and they will try to take the New Jerusalem which has already came down from God. Fire and brimstone will come from heaven and destroy the wicked and Satan himself, the fire will then go out and all that'll be left of the wicked and Satan will be ashes.

Read the books of Daniel and Revelation of the King James Version or the New King James Version for more details. Above is the generalization of what Adventists believe what'll happen. That's the justification we have.

Was Ellen White a prophet?

This question is a source of controversy. Many Seventh-day Adventists believe that she was. Others, including some Adventists, do not. She herself did not want faith in her to be a requirement for membership in the Adventist church (which it is not). There is evidence from her life, her writings, and her visions which is conclusive for many.
