Why do you like cross stitch?

I like the cross stitch because the pattern looks nice when it's all in a one line and it has an effect as it goes well with different colours and it looks nice with anything, for example: writing something with it eg. your name, doing a pattern with it and doing a casual stitch for example a straight line.

How does felt feel?

Felt feels like felt. Once you've felt felt, the feeling of felt will make you feel like you've felt something special.

Fuzzy Felt was a toy available when I was a kid.......a felt sheet onto which you would place felt shapes.................animals, cars, trees, people etc. Like a little felt picture board.........the felt cut-outs would stick to the felt and if you were careful, you could hold the sheet of felt at 90 degrees to the table and the felt figures would stay on it.

Felt is a very compact material which used to be used to make hats of various shapes.

It is the material equivalent of papier mache.

How do you sew a hem by hand?

Have the garment worn (inside out) by a person, or use a dressmaker's manikin to establish the correct length for the hem. Mark with chalk or pin with straight pins.

Remove the garment and press the hem. Straighten the hem flat and turn down, a small amount of the "hem" material, and once again press the fabric - this will keep the fabric from fraying. If there is not enough extra fabric to do this step use a commercially available fray-stop liquid.

Fold the hem into place with the extra inside between the hem material and the garment.

Taking needle and thread, (use a colour matching the fabric for the thread), place a knot in the end of the thread. Catch a small amount of the upper edge of the hem with the needle and take a very small vertical stitch into the garment, pull thread through to the knot, move about an inch along the hem and take another stitch and pull the thread through until it is taught, but not so tight as to bunch the fabric. Be sure the hem is laying flat to the garment and continue stitching until you reach the end of your thread or the starting place of the hand work. Secure the thread with a knot and if you have not completed the hem, re-thread the needle and continue.

When you have completed the hem, cut the thread, make sure the work is tidy (no hanging threads etc), turn the garment right side out and you are finished.

"No", said the farmer, "It does not matter much. I am already late. I have only a few miles to go and my horse can take me there without a shoe." He got on to his horse again and rode on. After a few miles, however, the horse began to limp and soon it went quite lame. The farmer, therefore, got down and began to lead it. He walked fast but he was still far away for home.

The night came on. The farmer was forced to rest under a big banyan tree. Suddenly some robbers appeared there. They covered him with their pistol and demanded from him what ever he had. The farmer was now quite helpless. He resisted for a while. The robbers robbed him of his money bags by force and left him bruised. The farmer was sorry. He lamented over his foolish mistake.
