That's a 12 gauge, the Model 11's had different serial no sets for different gauges. That particular shotgun was made either late 1923 (according to the actual factor record books) looks like November. But the best way to tell is to look at the letters on the left side of the barrel in front of the receiver for the date code, then go to the Remington Society of America web site and look under that manufactured date link to look it up in the table.

The identification numbers on a 16 gauge shotgun are typically found on the receiver or the barrel. You can often find the serial number engraved on the bottom of the receiver or along the side of the barrel near the chamber. Well there is no Remington Model 12 shotgun, a model 12 is a 22 lr, they did make a smoothbore but it would have said so. A smoothbore model 12 is rare and valuable but I doubt that's what you have if it doesn't say smoothbore it's probably shot out.

It is probably an off brand US or even a foreign made shotgun. You should take it to a gunsmith or collector for an appraisal. It is not worth much.

The general rule, currently, is that Damascus-type (twist) type barrels are only suitable for "wall hangers" and should not be fired at all. Not with modern ammo and not with blackpowder (or equivalent) ammunition.

The thinking is that during the manufacture of the laminated steel there could have been small inclusions of slag that over the decades may have allowed corrosion to begin and that even though the gun has been safe in thousands of firings, maybe the next one will rupture the slowly growing defect.

That having been written, a "Best Quality" gun from Holland and Holland (or one of the other famous English makers) would probably still fetch $50,000 as a wall hanger.

So, the short answer to your question is: Somewhere between $20 and $100,000.

The Iver Johnson Model 50 Sidewinder is a double action revolver designed to look like a classic single action. The action (trigger/hammer) looks and operates exactly like any other double action revolver. However, IJ (as did a couple of other manufacturers from the 50's through the 70's) dressed the basic double action frame and lockwork with features more closely related to single actions like the Colt 1873.

Single action features include: faux stag grip shape and aesthetics, pinned (non-swing-out) cylinder, loading gate and integral ejector rod. Although the revolver can be fired in either mode, reloading the pistol follows the manual of arms for the single action genre (eject empties individually through the loading gate or completely remove the cylinder from the frame).

To answer your question would require getting all the serial number records for all the makers that ever made any shotgun. If you provide the maker and model number, someone might be able to answer itl.

First off, the Ithaca is one of the finest pump shotguns ever made, and the ones made now are the best yet. (And no, I don't work for them, but I shoot them!)

The first criteria is how old is you Ithaca Model 37. Ithacas with a serial number lower than 855,000 DO NOT have interchangeable barrels, so for those, the answer would be no.

Ithaca M 37 shotguns with a serial number higher than would easily swap out both barrels and magazine tube. Make sure you have the right spring to go with the 8 shot tube and you should be set.
