yes if you are talking about a vent rib feild barrel the barrel should be marked for the choke. either full, mod, or imp cyl. you really want to use imp cyl but can fire a slug thru a mod or full, if it has choke tubes then i would get the imp cyl.

There is a lot of Information on the Baker Gun & Forging Co. They started in 1890 and made shotguns up to 1923. They made several different grades of shotguns. I suggest that you go to a book store and find a book called "2008 standard catalogue of firearms 18 edition" in it you will find several different photos of shotguns and listing of the different grades. All of them are valuable. look on page 104 for the information you are seeking.

You will need to shoot both chokes with as many different kinds of ammuntion as you can afford at the range you intend to shoot. Your shotgun will show a preference for at least one load.

Remington 11's are essentially Browning type shotguns with lesser values because of the name brand associated with the latter manufacturer. It is possible to find a Remington model 11 with an extra barrel with a different choke. The installed barrel and the extra barrel should have serial numbers.

To the best of my knowledge the model 88 receiver is identical regardless of chambering, so any of the barrels should work.
