You never twist your ankles while skiing. If you are capable of it your boots aren't fitting you properly. Your ankles shouldn't move. You do roll your KNEES however. That is carving which is fairly advanced skiing. For the begging you will turn by shifting weight from one foot to the other. I'm assuming you've never skied before because you needed to ask this question. If you want to learn to ski please get a lesson. Powder king mountain resort is located in British Columbia, Canada on highway 97. It's right close by Pine Le moray provincial park. Just look for pine pass it's the ski resort there.

it depends on what type of skiing your doing. You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO wear a helmet!!! Even if you are a beginner and you say you will not fall hard enough to do damage you are lying to yourself. Even if you don't fall hard per se, the snow can still be as hard as concrete and sometimes you fall directly on your head, not landing on anything else first (yes, it happens. I've done it many times, it still really hurts with a helmet, don't want to know what it's like without). Or, if you are what you would call an expert and you say you won't fall, again you're lying to yourself. I've been skiing for a long time and I'm pretty good and I still fall occasionally, and when I do it is a full on wipe out, not a simple fall. I hit a tree a few years ago hard enough to permanently damage the tree, four years later there is still missing bark. I am lucky I was wearing a helmet! Here's a stat for you, 14% of ski injuries are head injuries, around 90% of ski deaths are caused by head injuries and around 85%-90% of these people weren't wearing helmets. At my home mountain, Big White, someone died simply because they decided not to wear a helmet, they hit a tree, HARD, and sustained serious head injuries which killed him, which also could have been prevented with a helmet. I think it's a no brainer. Please wear a helmet.

Many people still think that Whistler Blackcomb has the highest vertical rise in North America but that has now been trumped by a ski resort in Canada known as Revelstoke which boasts a vertical of 6000ft. In the US many people think that Jackson Hole has the highest vertical (around 4100ft), This was beat by Snowmass in Colorado up until 2008. Snowmass had the highest in the US at (4406ft) however, now that Telluride has opened up Palmyra Peak they have the highest vertical of any ski resort in the country. Their new total vertical rise is 4425ft. Of course, this is just a measurement from the top of Palmyra Peak to the lowest base area in the town of Telluride. Unfortunately, there is no way of skiing all of this vertical (4425ft) in bounds and without riding at least one ski lift on your persuit of getting to the lowest base area (town of Telluride). However, one can ski just over 4000ft of vertical from the top of Palmyra Peak to the base of chair #1. Telluride also offers the highest in bounds ski terrain in the world. Palmyra Peak at over 13200 feet is now the highest inbounds ski terrain in the world, higher than Zermatt, South America, French Alps and any ski resort in the world!

Skilled Cross country skiers do this effectively and safely. Very importantly, choose the right ski for you. You can maneuver well in snow if you have a comfortable ski with you. Moreover, choose boots that fit snugly, holding your heel in place. You'll also need ski poles that can sit under your arm while you're standing.

Also, where a warm undergarment and a ski jacket that fits you well. Avoid cotton undergarment as possible. Don't forget your water resistant gloves. Enjoy skiing!
