What is the cheapest but best place to go skiing?
It depends on where you live. In Colorado there are several small relatively inexpensive ski areas like Ski Cooper, Monarch, and Sol Vista. They offer nice recreational skiing for a reasonable price. However, for me the best value is Loveland Ski area near Georgetown, CO. It has a wide variety of terrain from beginner to expert, good services and they really try to make skiing affordable. You can get discounts through the Entertainment books, local stores, and the Colorado GEMS card. They also offer free parking and a hamburger for less than a 5 Star restaurant charges for a fillet. Something unknown at major resorts.
It really depends where you are. Sometimes, April brings heavy snow, and skiing is fab, yet you can ski in a place where the snow is iffy, and the skiing quality will be iffy as well. If all of the snow is melted, remember that skiing will be hard !

Pro Skiers is a large range of people. If you are talking about the unheard of people they live in there cars and stuff. People such as Simon Dumont, Jon Olson, and Sammy Carlson don't have a yearly salary. They live off of sponsorship points. Sponsorship points are basically how much you can show there company logo or mention positive things about them
An example is when Jon Olson won the big air comp in the x-games he is getting about $100,000 for winning from the x-games and $50,000 for showing off his new Oakley Goggles and his new Head Ski Pro line and other little products. The more he shows his sponsors and talk about them, the more money he gets.
The Average well known Pro gets around $300,000 on a good year

What is the difference between race skis and downhill skis?
Race skis have a more aggressive side cut and they generally have a wider tip for a sharper turning radius. Also the materials used for racing skis tend to be more expensive. The ski is usually a bit lighter and the materials used, built for high speeds and can take a beating. Down hill would be for a recreational use. For some one who just enjoys skiing rather than lives it.
What is the proper method for tucking in downhill ski racing?
You might not be familiar with the term "tucking". A downhill ski racer is tucking the hill when you see them crouch down into a tight posture and ski straight down the hill. Often they tuck in the Downhill and Super Giant Slalom events. In this case, they will turn slightly when tucking or go back and forth between tucking and turning. Tucking is also called bombing the hill. Having proper technique is important as you cut down the wind resistance. Remember downhill ski racers want to ski as fast as they possible can so they can have the quickest run time. Therefore, they always want to find ways to minmize wind resistance. In order to tuck properly you need to bend your knees and and huddle over your knees with your chest. Your feet should be hip width apart so you have good stability. Flatten your back as much as possible. Keep your hands close together and have the angle of your poles match that of your back. Don't stick your poles straight up in the air because that is wrong (and the sign of an amateur). Hold this position. If your legs burn then you know you are doing it correctly!
How does newtons second law affect skiing?
Newton's second law deals with mass and force as it relates to acceleration. Acceleration down the hill is the main part of skiing, which skiers can affect by changing their mass or the force they use to push themselves down the hill.
How much does it cost to bring ski poles on a flight overseas?
When flying, skis & poles (normally packed together) and your boot bag, are normally considered one piece of luggage. You pay your airline's normal bag fare, if they even charge one. Each airline luggage charges differ.

Is snowboarding or skiing easier to learn?
Skiing is easier to learn at first as you are traveling in your normal direction and your feet are not connected so you can adjust your balance better.
Once you learn then you can advance faster on a snowboard than on skis.
First of all you need sharp skis. without sharp skis you can carve in the snow and you start sliding everywhere. You can test your skis by scraping your finger nail on the edge. if a little part of your nail comes off after sliding down with the slightest pressure you can tell it is sharp. also waxing makes skis go faster and i have heard that rubbing soap on the bases of your skis makes them go super fast, (but it leaves bubble's.) I hope this answers your question!
What are the precautions while skiing?
Most importantly, learn how to stop. Don't go faster than you can control. Be aware of your surroundings including signs and closed areas. Be weary of obstacles obvious (trees) and not so obvious (rocks). Dress for the weather. Don't get dehydrated. Don't ski alone unless you are an expert. Make sure your bindings have been adjusted by a professional. Obey the rules.
Why do you hit the gates in the giant slalom?
I think you may be mixing up two different Alpine Skiing events.
Giant Slalom is a course where gates are more spread out. Two vertical poles with a net in between generally make up one gate.
Slalom courses are closer together, with one vertical pole making up each turn/gate.
In Giant Slalom, a racer may hit the gate with their hip or pole, usually when in a tuck.
In Slalom, skiiers cross-block gates with their poles or shins as they are finding a shorter line and setting up their next turn.
Not the best answer, but close enough.
How would you conclude an essay on skiing?
You can conclude an essay on skiing by stating how enjoyable it is both as a sport and as a passtime.
What size snowboard should a beginner use who is 5 feet 11 inches tall 165 lbs?
Height and weight dont so solely determine the size snowboard you should ride, but it gives us a range of board to choose from. Every snowboard has a desired rider weight range. Ideally you want your weight to fall into the center of the weight range. For example, the snowboard I ride is a 157. The weight range on my board is from 140-180 pounds. I weigh 160lbs, which falls perfectly in the boards weight range. Weight is more important than height; height just helps compliment your weight. It is more important to have a snowboard designed for your weight, than having one in between your chin and nose. For your case, a size 156-158 should suit you perfectly.
Olympic skiers train using various techniques that will improve their skiing ability. Most skiers prefer to train on snow but also engage in other forms of training for building muscles and endurance.
When does ski seasons in Europe start?
That depends on where you live, but it usually lasts from late October to early March.
What is the steepest ski trail in the east?
Note: All runs are at a ski resort. They are NOT backcountry and all labeled runs by the resort.
At 78% (38º), Harakiki in Mayrlofen, Austria is the steepest piste in Austria, and highly possible to be the steepest in Europe.
But in no way does Harakiki compare to ANY of the steepest pistes in North America. Unlike in Europe, America labels 90% of the mountain with runs. In Europe, it is probably a small 5-10%. Therefore, America has much steeper slopes.
Now, if you were to ask a skier who doesn't really research the subject of skiing, than they would easily say Corbet's Couloir as it is very famous. 15-30 foot on average drop in (and going up to 50 feet in high seasons), landing on a 50 degree slope after a hard right turn, and then making another turn (back-to-back) on a 40 degree slope before mellowing out (to about 20-30 degrees). It seems likely, if you didn't know a lot about other pistes/runs, that you would think it is the steepest. It's hard, it's tough, it's challenging, but it's not very steep compared to other runs.
If you're talking about distance, some extremely steep continuous runs are Spanky's Ladder and Blowhole at Blackcomb, Canada; Hueves Grandes at Mammoth Mountain, CA; and Tuckerman's Ravine off Mount Washington, NH. But if you're just talking plain steep, just for a few turns, you can't beat The Palisades at Squaw.
The most classic route off the palisades is the Chimney Sweep. Air 15' in off the cornice, feel the acceleration of the four-foot wide 60 degree ramp, and get ready for a 25' cliff at 40 mph. As Palisades legend Scot Schmidt says in Greg Stump's License to Thrill, "What's tricky about this thing is the bottom part. It's like a 90 meter jump."
Now probably the most heralded line on the Palisades, Schmidiots is a 67-degree ramp littered with horizontal steps of rock. The route usually involves snow contact for a second, picking your feet up over five feet of rock, landing and then immediately airing 20' of rock, touching down for a split-second in a 2'-wide sliver and making a crucial re-direction right before airing again. Brace for a possibly brutal transition at the exit and feel free to claim if you're still upright--if you stuck it in medium snow levels. In huge years the entire ramp can be coated by white rime and becomes a fast but standard straightline.
Now, what about the famous expert galore Jackson Hole? Well, did you know that there are very few spots that go over 42 degrees and in bounds? Barely anything hits 50 degrees!
Another of the steepest runs in the world is Rambo at Crested Butte, Colorado. At 56 degrees, it's marketed as the steepest cut run in North America.
After skiing down one of the relatively easy double-black runs in the North Face, you take a catwalk down to the run. The most popular drop-in is off to the side, because going down the front is basically a cliff. The run is littered with moguls and small trees. Luckily for some, the run is only 300 ft. long, spilling those who go down it into a blue.
What are the double gates in a slalom ski course?
It varies. Regardless of the discipline (slalom, gs, super G etc) the distance between gates is not a fixed amount. Different disciplines have tighter (closer together gates) with Slalom events being the tightest and downhill events having them spread out the most allowing more speed and less technical turns.
