If you mate a California king snake and a apricot pueblan milk snake what does that make?

A hybrid, as simple as that. Hybrids should be avoided at all costs due to the high incidence of reproductive problems and also developmental problems and morphological abnormalities. In addition, husbandry requirements may be more uncertain than in full species as adaptations to individual environments will be mixed. The common complaint is that you are creating something that isn't found in nature (at least not often, but never in most cases), however, this issue is more one of ethics than a real concern. Unless reintroductions are planned - not usually the case - the hybrid is equal to being dead as far as natural populations are concerned anyway by being captive, so this argument is usually irrelevant to discussions.

What is antivenom made of?

I found this on everything2.com and it is something I have heard before. Also known as antivenene or antivenom, antivenin is an antitoxin produced in the blood by repeated injections of venom. Antivenin for venomous creatures is produced by gradually injecting livestock (usually horses) with the venom of a particular species. The animal gradually produces antibodies to the venom, and its blood plasma is harvested and refined to produce antivenin suitable for use in humans and other animals. This is the only proven method of treating venomous snake bites, and the venom of many other poisonous creatures. The production of antivenin in this way requires constant supplies of venom.

Is it possible for some snakes to change their gender?

AnswerTake it to the vet and have them probe it to check for sex.

You can look at the belly scales of the snake. If it has wavy scales it is a female if not wavy male.<---- This statement is folk lore at best. There is no scientific evidence that a snakes sex can be determined from the shape of scales. The only definitive way to sex a snake is to either probe (a very dangerous procedure which should only be conducted by thoqualified) or to take an x-ray. As it's cheaper to probe, that is my recommendation for all owners, even if you have to take it to your vet for the first few times and taught how.

How do you treat a Puff Adder bite?

Holy jumping I hope you didn't just get bitten otherwise get the hell to a hospital!!

If not check this link.

http://drdavidson.ucsd.edu/Portals/0/snake/Arietans.htm I am in Zimbabwe in the bush our hospitals are closed. I have limited medical knowledge. The man was bitten on the big toe and leg is swollen and discoloured to the knee. He is in pain bitten 72 hours ago and no doctors in this area that will treat him without money

oh my god! I wish there was something I could do! The bite is potentially lethal but it's not 100% critical. The only way you can make it better is with a counter toxin such as an antivenom will usually result in great healing. There isn't anything that "you" can actually do. I suppose comfort and keep the man hydrated and keep his foot as low as possible. Thank you for your prompt response. I am doing the best I can and will look at the insulin suggestion. There is a possiblility that I can get some from a friend and then phone a doctor on skype and see what I should do. This is a very difficult situation. I will keep in touch with you on this issue.

How does the snakes tongue help it survive?

The Snakes tongue is most important for identifying its surrounding and prey, the snake flicks it's tongue in and out of it's mouth rapidly to catch particles in the air, because snakes don't really smell and most species see poorly (some species are believed to have trouble or the inability to see stationary objects) the heat sensitive pits (Some Vipers can sense a 0.2 degree (F) change, which is enough to temporarily see your "Heat Footprint") and the tongue are crucial to survival. Particles from the air stick to the tongue, the tongue is rubbed against the toof of the mouth and a gland basically allow the snake to smell or even taste what its looking at, whether prey or predator or whatever it may encounter.
