Snapping Turtles

Not really, its the life cycle. the fish breeds, the turtle eats some of the fish, the fish left breed more fish! its how life goes. an example might be.... the mama bug has baby bugs, the baby bugs grow up, the frog eats some of the bugs, the snake eats the frog, the snake dies. then the bugs left, have more bugs, and it happens all over again.

Baby snappers eat bugs, small fish, worms, lettuce, or just about anything they can fit in their mouths, so be careful where you keep them!

Well I had a baby snapping turtle and if you found him in a habitat then you should truly leave him if you care for him, but if you found him in a strange place alone then you should contact your local wildlife sanctuary they may take him. They usually eat the things above but if yours does not seem to eat like mine get him to the sanctuary FAST! Or force feed him because mine would not eat and it died the next day.

Get a book from your local library on care of snapping turtles. Call your wild fish and game department in you state and see if your even supposed to be messing with them in the first place then you can figure out what to feed them. Not the best idea to get them used to you if they are from the wild because it takes away there natural instincts to forrage for themselves and what happens when you no longer can care for them do they starve now. Do the right thing and check it out .

Yes. Turtles need a definite day/night cycle. It's best to put your lights on timers so that they turn on and off at the same time every day. They need 12 to 14 hours with no light each night.

I don't know how it would be expressed in foot pounds or "ergs", but I do know that an adult (24" carapace) snapping turtle can snap a broom handle in half with no problem - I have seen it myself.

Snapping turtles only live in fresh or brackish water. They prefer water bodies with muddy bottoms and abundant vegetation because concealment is easier.

Turtles hibernate in the winter. They bury themselves deep in the mud and stay there until spring comes.

The maximum size for a snapper is between 20 and 30 inches. Snapping turtles cannot withdraw their heads, whereas Painted turtles can close up almost completely.

I don't believe so... they are carnivorous. They need meat for protein. That is why they eat fish and other small creatures.

of course. the neck gets you to talk through your vocal cords which then splits your throat in half although,some people don't die from getting snapped in the neck if the doctor said it could be a normal x ray but still i doubt you will live.

Use a gun and make sure to get the skin not the shell (that would be messy).

come up behind it and have someone hold its mouth shut while you (or another person) either shoots it, rips off its shell, or beats it with a hammer or any other object.

i got this from off the internet cause i have one when born hatc lings they are 2 inches in the first two years they are 4 to 5 inches than what i hate is in 20 years they get to 12 inches but they get way way way bigger than 12 inches

Snapping turtles hibernate

You can tell when a baby snapping turtle is dieing when it does not move at all for five minutes and a liquid poors slowly out of its mouth.

Snapping Turtles will snap because it is their way of protecting themselves from enemies and their prey. The animals and their prey, therefore get scared and leaving the turtle alone. It is in their nature for snapping turtles to snap.

All i know is a Snapping Turtles Habitat and if this isn't what you are looking for then i am sorry. They like to live in freshwater and mucky swampy places. They like places with mucky bottoms because they are better concealed. I hope this helped! :)

What you should do, is just be paitent and wait. eventualy, the thing your feeding your snapper will die,(if not already dead), or the snapper will eat it. while i writing this, I'm looking ant my snapper and a tadpole i just cought for him , and i am dying to see how he'll eat it or how he'll kill it. All he's doing is sitting on top of it. BORING!!!!!
