I bought my first burton snowboard from my sisters friend that fit perfectly... but then it got stolen so I went to a store to go buy one... they will help you find your size and which snowboard is right for you. if its your first time then you should rent one to see if you like snowboarding. But in general, it's just a optional add-on. If it really bothers you, a piece of tape does the same thing. And if your helmet is a great fit, and doesnt need goggles to hold it in place, some people ski/board with their goggles under their helmet anyway.

No, it does not. I use a regular iron I bought at Value Village for $5 to wax my base, and it works fine. The only thing is that once you use it to wax your snowboard, it cannot be used on clothes again, or else it will ruin them. If you make sure to have the right temperature, you should be fine!
