What is the best type of snowboard?
the best beginner board is a morrow slick and try some drake bindings. it was a really good board and i got it used for about 60$ try a play it again sports if there is one in your location PS ve been boarding my whole life
In my opinion, i would choose a k2 board. They arn't wide like the beginner boards. they are more narrow, and are good for pow and pack. I have a k2 gamma, and it was the best bang for my buck. This is only my opinion though. no i would start of on ether a nitro or a ride there nice boards and flex good with good edges
well, if you're a novice, then i would suggest a board that is flexible with plenty of give to make your landings softer when you fall, until you get the hang of it. the average height of the board should be between your shoulders and your nose. i would suggest a shorter board that is slightly more in line with your shoulders in order to give you more control and make manouvering much easier. also, a board that isn't expensive would be a good decision. if you buy the board boots and bindings, your total cost really shouldn't be anything more than $700-$800 (AUD) because it is your first board and will eventually have to be replaced, so there is no need to go into great cost. most of that $800 should be spent on a good pair of boots if your feet aren't still growing so they last you a very long time, or on the bindings so that you'll only really need to replace the board. i had my first boots and bindings for about 5 years after i bought them. i only just recently replaced them.
also, make sure you go for a snowboard with whats called an extruded base rather than a sintered base. the base of the board, or the part that sits on the snow is longer lasting and cheaper to repair than a sintered base. A sintered base i would suggest if you wanted better performance out of the board. but I've been snowboarding a while and i still have an extruded base and I've had absolutely no problems. they're a far more cost effective and money saving option.
for girls, some of the best beginner boards are manufactured by: Spice and Lola and for men: Flow and Rossignol. However, there are also plenty of great beginner boards from other brands.
the clerk at the snowboard shop should give you the help you need anyway.
*also see the answer to the question 'how do you know what snowboard to buy?' that my help you further.

What is the best place to snowboard in Ontario?
Well I think that Whistler is (BC). Even though it has horrible snow and is at a low altitude, the terrain is some of the best in the world with the 2nd highest lift served vertical in North America. It is HUGE by the way.
Well, im assuming you mean how do they work as in, how does it go smoothly down a hill?
Well a snowboard ahs many components that take place
-flex
-board shape
-bindings
-boots
-riders ability
The board overall moves from your weight force going down a hill.. The board will go downt he hill because when it is on the snow, it actually glides on little water molecules from the snow, as your board mves down it causes friction, Heat, and that will melt a tiny layer of snow which causes the board to move swiftly. Have you ever notices your board with ice of the bottom and it won't glide down the hill, well the ice is thick adn layered differenctly thatn your board, so it makes that ice actually hitt he snow when your movind down, picture this, your board is laying on a little film of water under the board, well the little peice of ice sticks to the ground as it trys to melt and forms withthe snow on the ground.
Now your board type/style
Has a big role it contributes to what terain your board is for, and the smoothness and flex. The boards flex determines the amount of pressure put ona point. The shape can change everything. the shape determines where the flex is, shapes can hold in as camber, v rocker, rocker, and flying v.
Boots add flexability also...

Do normal snow boots work for a snowboard?
No, you have to use boots specific to those bindings. I'm not sure if you have Clickers, the old Switch step in's or something else but I can tell you it is going to be hard to find boots for them and you need to get rid of them! Step in's are outdated and can be unsafe. Flow and K2 make alternative's to these methods that allow you to use any brand of snowboard boot as well and get the performance and response you need.
Who built the first snowboard?
Jack Burchett built a snowboard like sled in 1929. He did this by taking a piece of plywood and used horse reigns to tie the feet to the board. The next snowboard like sled was invented in 1965 by Sherman Poppen called the Snurfer. The Snurfer is often credited as being the first snowboard.
He cut out a plank of plywood and he strapped his feet on it with clothslines and horse reins.
Its a point of debate but speculation indicates that this was either Sherman Poppen with the creation of his 'Snurfer' Tom Sims that wanted to 'surf the snow'.
Burton was the first to make it popular! Think of mr Burton as Henry Ford with the model T. I was the the first to make a snowboard! I don't want the credit...... but they keep giving it to me!
Sherman Popper, he put two skis together and a handle for riders to keep their balance. It was created in 1965.
nobody knows really. snowboarding is more about the pioneers that made it popular
Which foot steers the snowboard?
The front foot steers the board using torsional twist. You should try to keep your weight even on both feet.
Can you use paraffin wax on a snowboard?
Totally. Just treat it like you would with hot wax made for snowboards. It actually works quite well, but it does wear off faster than specialized wax (my theory: no big deal- it's cheaper regardless, I'd rather spend my money on a lift ticket). All of the fandangled specialized wax is totally expensive and unnecessary not needed except for comps. To do this iron the wax and scrape it to a thin film. It can take quite a few treatments to saturate the base.
What are the odds of becoming a pro skateboarder?
•Basically, a skater is pro when he or she can make a living from the demonstration of their skateboarding skills. So, if a skater is young, then it's tricky to call them "pro", because they are still in school, live with their parents, etc. But, on a very basic level, someone is a pro skater when they can live off of it - so really, it's up to that skater. This type of "pro" is the same as in any other kind of sport. Usually this type of pro will have a few sponsors, and travel around to competitions, living off of the money generated from sponsors and competitions (sponsors like their pros to do well in competitions too, so the system feeds itself, as long as the pro keeps doing well).
•However, there is a system among skateboarding companies where certain sponsors will not call a skater they sponsor "pro" until they decide that that certain skater is good enough.
•This type of "pro" labeling often comes with products with his or her name on them. With this kind of pro labeling, skateboarding teams will have a certain number of pro skaters, and a certain number of am (amateur) skaters. This is used more for teams who travel and do demos, and film videos. And how much do pro skateboarders get paid for pro endorsements? That's TOTALLY up in the air. Some guys get loads of money to use their name, and other guys - the less known pros - can get hardly anything. It all depends on how they perform, how the sales go, and how much they are valued by that sponsor. You'll notice at events like the X Games, when a skater does really well and the cameras are on him or her, sometimes they hold up their skateboards to show off sponsor stickers - or they make sure that certain sponsor stickers on their helmets are always seen. That's because that sponsor pays them well, and they want to keep them happy and make sure the sponsor gets their money's worth! It's not all bad, when you think it through - if no one was sponsoring most of these guys, they wouldn't be able to afford to travel and skate, and we would never see them. Sponsorships and endorsements can make things ugly, but they also open a lot of doors. There's a lot of room to argue on this topic, and I think arguing can be healthy.
•The world of pro skaters is strange. The top pros do get a lot of money, but the top of the mountain is a small place, and while they are all usually friendly (more so than in a lot of sports), some elbowing does happen. And sometimes, guys just fall right off…

How can you increase speed in snowboarding?
The ABEC scale is a system used throughout the manufacturing industry for rating the manufacturing tolerances of precision bearings, developed by the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). Bearings are rated using an odd number between 1 and 9. The higher the number, the greater the manufactured precision of the bearing. Bearings manufactured within tighter tolerance ranges provide greater accuracy of shaft rotation and contribute to higher speed capability. However, the ABEC rating does not specify many other critical factors, such as smoothness of the rolling contact surfaces, ball precision, and material quality[1].
But yea keep em cleen and dry and lubricated and if they are really nice you should take them apart and cleen them one in a while.
