When it comes to bindings, it's all upp to personal preference. If you ride park and small mountains and things like that, your would probably want to ride flow bindings since they are quick and easy to get in and out of. If you ride huge mountains or alot of powder, you would want a brand like burton.

Height and weight don't so solely determine the size snowboard you should ride, but it gives us a range of board to choose from. Every snowboard has a desired rider weight range. Ideally you want your weight to fall into the center of the weight range. For example, the snowboard I ride is a 157. The weight range on my board is from 140-180 pounds. I weigh 160lbs, which falls perfectly in the board's weight range. Weight is more important than height; height just helps compliment your weight. It is more important to have a snowboard designed for your weight, than having one in between your chin and nose. Refer to our weight charts below. In your case, I think a size 159 to 161 will work just fine.

You should always go with what fits you the best. Salomon makes a real good boot, with locking tightening systems (which are almost always better than regular lace-up) and DC is apparently good with the locking too. Burton and Ride are the best boots. Pure comfort and quality. I rented a pair of salomon boots, and they buckled in the heel making it very uncomfortable to ride.

Really you can get by without a wax for a long time, but at a certain point in your riding you can tell if your board just doesn't glide like it used to. If the daily temperature changes by 10 degrees or so, you might need to throw a fresh layer of wax on. If you've been scraping over a lot of rocks, rails, boxes, patios, etc... then you'll need to wax up, not just to keep a layer of wax on, but to fill in all those holes you makin, brah.

Since snowboarding is a self-progression sport, unless you take it competitively, you don't need to accomplish anything. I like to set self goals so I keep working toward something, but snowboarding is just about getting out there and having fun and staying active during winter.

No. Snowboard cross is a downhill sport, but the slopes are not any where near as steep as downhill racing - snowboarding on an Olympic level downhill ski course would be suicide.

A good begginner board for you completely depends on what style of riding you plan to do. I am about 6 feet tall and weigh about 200 give or take and I ride two boards. One is a freestyle, Which means that it is meant for goofing around on the mountain and one is an all park board. You will diffinately need a wide with board so when you go to purchase it tell them. I ride a 159 wide and a 157 wide the Burton bullet is a great starter board. That was my first board, also it usually comes in a 450.00$ package that includes boots and bindings. if that doesnt trip your trigger there are good packages with companies like k2 and forum. ok well it really depends on what you would like to use the board for. I am 5`3 and my friends call me stupid because I ride a 140- 146 range. That would be perfect for you if you were using it for jibbing and the park. But if you looking for an all mountain board buy a board that is just under your chin.
