There is a north, middle and south park in Colorado. I know, I lived in towns which were within the Middle Park and the South Park. South Park lies in the west central portion of Park County, which lies northwest of Colorado Springs. Fairplay is the County Seat of Park County. (I used to live there!) The "Park" is a relatively flat uplifted area surrounded by high mountains. The average elevation in the "park" is 10,000 ft. It is bordered on the east by the Front Range and on the west by the Mosquito Range. You enter into South Park from the northest via State Hwy. 285 over Kenosha Pass, from the south east on Route 9, from the north over Hoosier Pass also on Route 9. The geometric center of Colorado lies in South Park. Look at a relief map of Colorado on Google maps, look at the center of the state and you'll see the South Park. --------------- To locate on a map the area of South Park that comes to mind for Colorado drivers, see the open space surrounding the roughly 20-mile stretch of U.S. 24 east of its intersection with U.S. 285.

It's hilarious at first if you've been around long enough to get all the references (some are REALLY obscure; I once saw a reference to a children's show I used to watch in the 1970s that was only on in the New York City area), but then it starts getting old after a little while.
