I suspect you are confusing a patent date marking with a model number. What are the other markings on the gun? sales@countrygunsmith.net OK. The best we can do is narrow it to the 1930's. No factory records exist. This was after the Savage takeover, and Stevens was still producing guns in the Chicopee Falls plant. They used the Springfield name as a value-brand.

These were made between 1926 and 1945 and will sell between $25 and $75, possibly over $100 if in absoulutely like-new condition.

The Page-Lewis Model 50 was discontinued in 1933. I belive they started to make them in 1928. I sold in 1933 for around 5 dollars out of the Sears catalog. Today it is worth around 150 dollars or so.

I own one myself. It used to be an automatic weapon, was used in training for the military in World War II. Made in the 40's (approx 43-48)as far as I can tell styled after the Marine Core practise rifle. Unique thing about it is that although the rifle seems to be updated for semi automatic use, a good chunk of the original automatic firing mechanism is still there. So when you go to pull the trigger, if you hold the trigger the breach will stay open. In other words if you don't release the trigger after firing, the breach will stay open. This lets out to much gas and the load mechanism fails making it jam (most of the time). This can be fixed by using it like a service rifle and pulling the trigger quickly, then releasing quickly, this way there is enough gas to load the chamber for semi auto fire. Also it has the M1 style front bead with those "wings" on either side of it to keep it protected (reminders of its Marine Core history). If you purchased this firearm I recommend you take heed what I mentioned about the trigger locking, and take it into consideration. Other then that, the gun is very accurate, especially on single shot mode (lever depressed in when closed), and is a very good gun. This particular one was my grandfathers father, so my great grandfathers, who was in action during WW II. When it was made into civilian model it was one of the first guns he bought upon returning home. Hope this helps.

We are going to ASSUME from the barrel markings you undoubtedly copied that this is the Savage Model 40. Without knowing the condition of the rifle, we cant get more specific to value than the range of $150-$450. Digital pictures would be helpful. So much depends on originality and condition. Is it ALL Eddystone, or has it been rebuilt with mixed parts? Barrel date correct for serial number? Overall condition? Parkerized or Blued? I am told by my local gunsmith, they were made from 1930-33. His guess on the value is apx. 270-285 depending on condition.

i don't know the exact age of my Stevens model 75, but i do kno te my grandfather who is 83 was given the rifle when he was 8 years old by his granfather and was well used when my grandfather received the rifle. if that helps. they also made a model 75a.

I have a Stevens mod. 94 series k single shot 20 gauge serial a817325, and i have been trying to find info on it also. Havent found anything worth while yet, but still searching. I have been told it is made in 1951. Having trouble locating that exact model, but the Savage Model 12 series was not introduced until 1998. Need more information, such as caliber, any other markings on the rifle, etc.

That's a patent date, not a manufacture date. The Standard Catalog gives a range of values from $125 in Poor condition to $275 in Excellent condition.

I'll assume it's a Springfield by the J Stevens Arms Co. and tell you my guide book says $90 in good condition to $172 in top condition. Made from 1935-1939. I have a model 82 and wouldn't consider selling it for that though.

We have had(stevens savagen arms corporation USA Chicopee falls mass) for more than 3 generatins.My grandfather has bought it. It is still active.Thin and severe.
