How do you tell how old and what type a J Stevens shotgun is if it is marked J Stevens Springfield and has the number 147k on the receiver under the barrel?

There have been several variations of the company name, but never just "J Stevens". The "Springfield" name was used from 1920 until about 1948 and during this time the company was called J. Stevens Arms Co. The type is determined by looking at the gun: single shot, double barrel, pump, etc. The gauge, if not marked on the barrel, can be determined by measuring the chamber. 147K MAY be the model number. I have not found this model listed in any of my references, however if it is a single shot or double barrel, few models differ significantly from others, so many are not listed individually.

What is the value of an Eclipse 16 gauge double barrel side by side shotgun?

The 'Eclipse' shotguns were typical hardware-store catalog offerings in the late 1800's through about 1910. Most of these were imported from Belgium, and will have the ELG in an oval proofmark underneath the barrels. They are considered wall hanger decorations only, and sell in the $200 range. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the age of a 410 Springfield Model 67F made by Savage Arms?

Long guns were not previously required to have serial numbers and this can make precisely dating these difficult. However these guns have a circle stamp with a letter in it, usually where the barrel meets the body of the gun, and this will give you the year of manufacture. Heres how to determine the date by that stamp:

a 1949

b 1950

c 1951
d 1952

e 1953

f 1954
g 1955

h 1956

i 1957
j 1958

k 1959

l 1960
m 1961

n 1962

p 1963
r 1964

s 1965

t 1966
u 1967

v 1968

w 1969
x1970

Where can you get sights for a 12 gauge Savage Stevens Model 67 pump shotgun?

AnswerShotguns don't have sights. Just a bead at the front of the barrel.

Incorrect. Some shotguns do just have a bead at the muzzle's end ... but, shotguns do indeed have aiming sights available. Typically, a shotgun designed to shoot rifled slugs will have conventional, adjustable iron sights with the rear sight mounted in the area above the trigger & and a blade sight ... sometimes with a colored line on the front sight. A typical name for shotgun sights is called Ghost Ring Sights. It came standard on my Mossberg 500 12 Ha. Shotgun.

What is the value of a 22 caliber Savage Arms Springfield Model 388 semi-automatic rifle in good condition?

I just purchased one at a garage sale (May 2013) for $150. It is in excellent condition and came with a 3 X 9 Bushnell scope. I loaded it up with 10 22 long rifle carts. and shot them as fast as I could pull the trigger. Not bad for a 40 year old 22. Haven't tested accuracy as have not been out to the woods yet. I think they sold new for about $40 without scope in 1970. So $150 seems a good deal these days. Besides, it is vintage.

What is the value of a 410 J Stevens Model 58 bolt action shotgun with a 3-shot clip?

I purchased a 58A 410 for $75 a year ago that was in very good condition. It was probably worth $50-$75 but I was looking for the replacement to my first gun so the price wasn't much of an issue.

What is the value of a J Stevens single barrel shotgun from Chicopee Falls MA that is at least 120 years old?

Give me the name exactly as it is marked on the side of the gun. That will determine if it is really 120 years old because the name changed in 1886. Stevens always built solid and dependable guns, but they do not have much collector appeal except for the very early "boys' rifles" and the smoothbore versions of these rifles.

What is the history of a 16 gauge Springfield double barrel shotgun with a hammer that has J Stevens Arms Company Chicopee Falls Mass USA on the barrel?

The J. Stevens Arms Company was a prominent firearms manufacturer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Springfield double barrel shotgun with a hammer was likely produced by J. Stevens Arms Company in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. The 16 gauge shotgun was a popular choice for hunting and sport shooting during that time period. The specific history of this particular shotgun would require further research into the serial number and production records of J. Stevens Arms Company.

What is the value of a 22 lr Smith and Wesson pistol made in Springfield Mass marked Marcus Registradas?

Nearly all of the older (pre 1995) Smith and Wesson products had the term "Marcas Registradas" meaning trademarked or equavalent to the ™ or ® in spanish stamped near the S&W logo. Smith and Wesson made many revolvers and "pistols" in Cal .22 long rifle. You would have to specify the model and condition of the pistol for any value to be estimated.
