My sister was unfortunate enough to have this happen to her. She suffered from delayed gastric emptying -- basically her digestive system didn't move food through. She went through virtually all formulas on the market and ended up going to IV nutrition. If the question is looking for what you can do to address intolerance, here's some ideas:

If the problem is an emptying problem like hers or a malabsorption problem, they have "elemental" formulas that are already partially broken down, so it's easier for the body to digest. So, that is one option. Another option is adding things to the formula or taking medications to address whatever issues the formula is causing. So, if it's constipation for example, there's powdered fiber you can add. If the problem is an intolerance to the ingredients, there's a great formula called Compleat that contains mostly real food. Some people also actually puree and make their own tube food. Obviously, it's important to consult your doctor before trying anything new and to regularly check up on the patient's nutritional health.

If none of those options work and no formula or supplement combinations work, there is an option of IV nutrition. You can actually get full nutrition through your veins. It's not ideal and there are risks and side effects, but it can be a relief to someone who's been miserable on tube feedings.

If the question was just looking for what happens to the body when it "rejects" the formula, it's generally vomiting, diahhrea, and/or severe bloating. Other symptoms might include constipation and nausea.

What do you call an incision in the stomach?

At the top of the stomach where it connects to the esophagus is a sphincter. At the lower end of the stomach where it connects to the small intestines is a second sphincter. Both of these openings will open to let material pass through, then close to prevent back-flow. Acid Reflux occurs when stomach acids leak through the faulty sphincter and the acids irritate the esophagus.

Is alcohol in moderation good for you?

Yes. Drinking alcohol (beer, wine and distilled spirits) is associated with better health and greater longevity than is either abstaining from alcohol or abusing it. It is a myth that only red wine confers health benefits. Both beer and liquor tend to confer the same health benefits as red wine; the benefit is found in the alcohol rather than in a specific beverage.

No. It's the high antioxidant concentration of berries in the wine that provides the health benefits and not the alcohol. This is why people who drink wine in moderation (1 - 2 glasses a day) tend to have a lower chance of chronic disease, cancer, among other benefits. For people who love to drink wine sure go ahead in moderation. For those of you who are non-drinkers, No do not start drinking just for the health benefits. Instead consume grape juice, green tea, and a vareity of fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants (high ORAC value).

How do you make your stomach look flat for a special occasion?

Actually, crunches work the upper part of the rectus abdominis muscle (the "six-pack" muscle). To reduce a lower belly bulge, do reverse crunches, bridges, and similar moves that target the lower abdominal area. Exercises to strengthen the oblique muscles also help, as they terminate near the dreaded bulge. Also, specialized exercises to strengthen the deepest layer of abdominal muscles, the transverse abdominals, are extremely helpful. Even Kegels can help if your paunch became a problem after childbirth. Remember as well, you cannot exercise away the effects of a poor diet. If your paunch is a deposit of fat rather than a sag from weak muscles, all the crunches in the world won't get rid of it. There are a gazillion diet plans out there, but the best is the one that works for you. Use a calorie-calculator to figure out how much you should be taking in, considering your activity level, to maintain your current weight, then cut those daily calories 100-300 calories a day for weight loss. Never go below 1200 calories per day, and don't go on some crazy extremes or delete entire food groups. The only thing you can do is strengthen your stomach wall to make the area firm. That means lots and lots of stomach crunches!

What does it mean when your stomach is growling but your not hungry?

There is a little person inside of you that is drowning in your stomach acid. The "growl" you hear is actually him/her screaming for help. Sometimes they are calm, for the tide is low. Other times, you have been active for the day, and all the stomach acid is swishing around. Other times, he is not yelling, but throwing rocks to get your attention.
